Thank you, I don't know what would be causing that. I have transferred my files and db to a test site about a week ago and it did not require a reinstall.
However, it is an old site that has been messed with and messed with over time. Nothing unusual has been done to the db though.

Oh, dammit, this issue was another plugin conflict. I'm not sure which one, but after deactivating everything it looks like it's loading up the simplepress tables. I had not thought to deactivate everything and try it. After I got the importer admin panel up, I thought I had gotten past the conflicts.
Darn, sorry I had you spend time on this and then got it myself - still testing to make sure it's working now though,
Chris

I am attaching an updated copy of the importer to this post. This is actually a newer version that is about t be released. It uses the newer and more secure/preferred mysqli php library. WordPress has supported this for quite some time now and with the arrival of php7 the old mysql library is removed.
So you will need the mysqli library but it would be most unusual for you not to have it.
I have run several tests using your database and successfully imported the records into SP so - over to you and I hope it works for you too.

Yes - great news. Sorry it took so long. There were a couple of errors n the code which makes you wonder why it has worked for so many other people!
I want to thank you for allowing us to use your database for testing. It really is the only way to ensure things are running as they should. Rest assured now you have confirmed success I will delete the DB from my local machine.
