On the permission issue I am unable to replicate this. for me, accessing my forums as a guest, the polls just do not appear in the post thus not allowing me to vote – but I also see some of the other content removed so I will open a ticket to get it looked at more closely.

Actually – I better ask you to check to to make sure that the permission set in question is associated with the right user group at forum level… can you double check that please?

It seems to me – or at least if this were me – I would want to know why it is creating a folder called ‘polls1’. Our download zip does not create this. The only reason I have ever come across for this is that some OS’s – such as OSX for example – will append a ‘1’ (and then ‘2’ etc) to a folder on unzipping if a folder of that name already exists. I would argue that there has to be something in your server environment responsible for this. And, of course, it is not something we can ascertain.

Yes that is strange, it is a standard debian system and the folder was not on the FS. Anyway, the problem should be on our side.

To resume what we try to do: we want the guest to view the polls, but not able to vote on it.

on the forum level : Guests => Read Only Access

And on the Read Only Access: can vote in a forum poll within a post is disable

I was coming back to add to my last answer anyway but you beat me to it!

I can not replicate this issue but it seems my colleague – who actually wrote the polls plugin – can. He has said he will look into it tonight – I am sure it will be an easy fix and we will get an update out ASAP. So apologies for that.

maybe…  original poster not clear on how guests could vote…

The permissions are correct when the topic loads up… user wont be able to vote and will be shown poll results…  however, if the user has not voted (or is allowed multiple votes), there is a link at the bottom which allows them to load the poll for voting…  the display of that link needs a permission check too… so users/guests without permission to vote could vote if they clicked on the link..

but if its showing to vote on the original page load, then I would suspect incorrect permission set up…

Will get the polls update done tonight, but may be day or two before its released…

Hello,

I also have a problem with the poll plugin (1.04)

When creating a poll, a box says “Error Creating Poll, Please check entries”.

All the fileds are filled.

The same problem is suddenly back. :(

Polls works when i deactivate Contact Form 7, but i need this plugin. :(

version polls: 1.2

version contact form 7: 3.3.1

version SP: 5.1.4.

yes, it has been updated… and this continues to be a problem with contact form 7 and NOT simple press… they are changing form elements on forms not related to themselves… shame on them… ;)

I had put in place a fix to handle their dorking our form, but there recent changes have invalidated that fix for contact form 7…

working on a fix that will remove them from the mix completely… but will not be able to release an update to polls because its already got a change in it that requires the next version of SP… if successful, might be able to make a single file available to you to download and replace in your sp polls plugin…

a little time needed to test…

have said this before, but its because contact form 7 is loading its own version of jquery form instead of using the one that ships with wp… so any other plugin using the wp jquery form will potentially have issues… loading your own version of js/jquery instead of the ones that come with wp is just wrong…

but think I have it working with both (again)… hopefully this time it wont matter what contact form 7 does in the future… bit more testing and make the changed file available for testing…

Extract the file in the attached zip file and replace it in your sp polls plugin and verify its fixing the contact form7 discrepancy…  thanks!

Yes i cleaned my cache, but it dosnet work.

A member said me, that yesterday polls were still working but the bug was caused after creating a poll with the possibility to choose 2 answers together.

Maybe i will take a look for a new contact form.

please explain what you did with the file I attached here… just want to make sure you put it in right location… and do you have a link? and maybe a temp account to try it? send via pm if okay… to both myself and yellow swordfish with link to this topic so we know what its about…
