Why can't I figure this out? I'm reading through the options, codex, buddypress info.... but it eludes me.
New users registering on the site are being assigned as admins on SP. I've pushed a wrong button somewhere. Can someone kindly point me to the right door to figure this out so I can stop spinning my wheels?
Thanks,
Joe Noob
what do you mean being assigned as SP admins? there is no facility for users to auto become SP admins...
are you saying they are listed on forum - admins - manage admins with full sp admin capabilities??

I just set up a new account. Yep, jumps right to admin privileges. All forums, including ones that nobody else should ever see, are visible.
In the Users list it shows the Memberships as "Members, Administrators." For Rank it says "Moderator."
Interesting... lol
Could it be that I've set something in BuddyPress to grant permissions in a way I certainly didn't mean to? Would it affect things this way?
I admit to being a little lost here. What is this 'Administrators'? Can I assume you et this up yourself and therefore has nothn9ng to do with forum admins?
Have you gone to the forum admin > User Groups > Map Users to user user Groups which is where you set which user groups new users are allocated in to?

Okay, I find that WP Admin is set to be a SP Admin in the Map User panel. My site is a MU, with open registration of sites. I wonder if someone's status as admin of their own subsite was somehow making them admin in SP as well.
I've changed default usergroup for WP admin to Members in SP. Having set up a new account, it seems to have worked. I'm not sure what exactly is going on, but at least new members aren't admins any longer.
I'm sorry Mr. Swordfish, but I guess I don't really understand the question. And maybe it would be relevant to my better understanding of how these things integrate. Does this help?
I also checked the "single usergroup membership" when I changed the admin to member instead of admin. Maybe that did it?
Thanks
Joe
it helps insofar as it bears out my point, There is no such thing as an SP Admininstrators User Group (unless you created one). We have no such group pre-defined. SP Admins do not belong to any user group.
I was simply referring to your very first point at the top of this thread - that new users were becoming SP Admins. It just is not possible.
