Hi,
I have set up the polls plugin and it works fine. However, in the Poll Expiration field if I do the default "Leave Blank for No Expiration" then the poll seems to expire instantly and is never open for voting. If I set a date here then it seems to work perfectly with no problems.
On another related note, is it possible to hide poll results from people before they have voted? I don't want people to be able to see how the voting is going before they place their own vote. I see you can "Allow poll results to be hidden" but that seems to hide them completely until voting is finished which isn't quite what I'm after. This is a fairly standard feature of forum polls that I have seen.
Thanks to anyone who can help me with either of those queries.
have you looked at the poll options?? there is one to allow poll results to be hidden...
as to the expiration, a bit odd... no other reports of it and just ran a quick test and works fine... are you running latest versions of SP and polls plugin?
also, check what type of tracking you are using... might be locking yourself out...

Yes, as I said above I know that there is an option that allows you hide poll results but it hides them until the poll expires, rather than hides them until you have voted which is what I was hoping for. I guess that isn't possible though.
I have the latest version of both SP and the polls plugin (only downloaded them yesterday).
Not sure what you mean by 'type of tracking' that might be locking me out...
you've lost me... the option is exactly that... does not show poll answers until after the user has voted...
on the poll admin options... in the poll tracking section, what type of tracking do you have set??

It shows the results of the poll only after ALL voting has finished (i.e. after the time is up on it). After voting I get this message: Thank you for voting. Poll results will be available when the poll has closed. And this is what the help says on this: "Also, you can choose to allow polls results to be hidden until the poll is closed. If this option is enabled, when creating a poll, users will be able to have the results hidden until the poll is closed. If hiding poll results, you can also set up a message that is displayed to users instead of the results."
If I leave the Poll expiration field blank I can vote on the poll when it first gets posted but I get this if I do: "Sorry, this poll is not active" and then cannot vote. I have 'Cookie and IP' set in the tracking options but have also tested on a different machine on a different network. In that situation if I wasn't the one to set up the poll then there is simply no option to vote and it just displays the results (which show that nobody voted).
sorry, I misunderstood your poll results hiding question... I thought you wanted to hide them until voting was done... so I am unsure what you want to do from a hiding perspective...
tested it again and could vote... but must admit I am only trying as admin... so will do some more investigation as regular user...

hmmm... seems that trying to set the date expire to 25 years in the advance can cause issues... seems to overflow in some cases...
will have to open a ticket and see a better way to set the max date...

okay, think I have a fix for this potential issue... will test for couple days and try to release an update on Saturday... or maybe tomorrow night...
