the address verification is failing... the email came from an email address of mail-noreply@google.com... it must come from the email address of your user or the alternate set up in your profile - account settings...
Visit Cruise Talk Central and Mr Papa's World
You will have to take that up with google... or look into your settings... often email accounts can have a different reply-to email address specified, like when they dont want any replies...
but the pbe emails that are being processed are failing because of the email address they are from - its part of the email... grab one from your server and look at it... we need the email verification for security purposes or else anyone could just post by email and mimic anyone..

Mr. Swordfish, I understand your pain.
If you look at my forum, I have about 50 retards asking me the same questions every day.
"How do I slip a punch" "What should I eat after I got punched?" "If I don't pivot when I kick, can I break an ankle?"
It's horrible. I make the same rounds daily and wonder, "Do you even listen? Did you even watch the lessons?"
The truth is, I'm a friggin ninja. They don't understand, because they don't have 15 years of beating people's assess in a cage under their belt. I can't even relate to their needs.
I am not a simple press ninja... I'm just trying to give people the ability to interact.... and I don't want to have to sign in the forum to do it.
In this case, I am smart, I am trying, I have 4 pages worth of support requests... which I paid for.... all trying to drill down the same issue.... with gmail...... it's not like its some bizarre email provider.
Asking me questions to which you might know the answer, but I do not, does not help me. A step by step, clear guide on how to fix this issue would completely eliminate your need to get frustrated.
My connections come back fine, yet there are still errors in the log. What do I do now, what is wrong?
I really don't know what else to say. I have told you the problem twice now and Steve has also explained the problem above. The appropriate bit from the usage article:
...users must send the email using the address set in their WordPress/Simple:Press profile.
The Post by Email plugin will also add a new field to their Simple:Press profile that enables them to enter a secondary email address that can also be used for sending email replies. Simple:Press will check for either their original profile address or this special email address and either will be accepted and allow publication of their reply to the appropriate forum topic.
If any of these conditions are not met, the email will be discarded.
So - whatever it is you are using to send your emails to SP is sending them with an address that is NOT the one in your SP/WP profile OR the special secondary address you may or may not have set up.
This has NOTHING do with your connection. We know that is fine otherwise there would be no entry in the email log. This is all about the email address used to SEND the email reply. And that is for you to determine. Normally the email address used to receive your notification emails will be the same address used to send/reply your emails - clearly in your case this is not true so that suggests something in your gMail setup and that - I am afraid - I can't help you with.

Ok, is there a setting that I can check which will tell me what email my site is trying to send the mail from?
The only option I see for setting my email address in SP is on the top right of this screenshot, and I think that I have it filled out correctly.
assuming the email is trav@howtofightnow.com, yes...
but, you are still looking in the wrong spot... This is NOT a simple press configuration issue... its with the email account or client that sending the email...
so yes, like you mention, check the email account settings... but also check the client where you sent the email from... its on the sending side that the from or reply-top email address is getting set incorrectly...
keep in mind that trav@howtofightnow.com is not a gmail address... you may be using gmail to route the email through, but they are different domains/addresses and some where, gmail is setting the no reply address so that emails dont go back to gmail...
are the distinct email addresses? are you routing your trav@howtofightnow.com address through gmail or google apps? if so, that may be where the no reply is coming from...
as a test, deactivate pbe... send an email reply as if you were wanting to get pbe to work... that way the email will sit on your server inbox... go grab the email from the inbox and look at all the fields... see where it came from, etc...

Whenever I reply to one of the emails, I only get a mail in my own inbox... a notification comes FROM trav@howtofightnow.com to let me know that there has been a forum post (this is an admin email... the same one I get any time there has been a post) and when I reply to it, my reply email just ends up in my own email box again (trav@howtofightnow.com) . Nothing has made it into the gmail inboxes by virtue of a reply to an email alert... it doesn't even look as if they've tried to make it into those boxes.
Does this help to isolate the problem at all?
I don't think this is anything we can resolve.
It is just a simple fact that when you post a PBE email reply then the sending address of that email has to be recognised by Simple:Press and needs to be identical to either the address you use in your WP profile or the secondary address available under the SP profile.
If SP can not identify WHO is sending the PBE then it is going to fail. This is something you need to sort out between your email client, email addresses and profile settings.
