And yet AGAIN as I have also reported numerous times, (when Mr. Papa asked me to do some research) the emails ARE coming from trav@howtofightnow.com, which is both my WP email, and my simple press email.

What's next?

Well sorry - the last print out I saw stated they were being sent from 'mail-noreply@google.com'.

So what does your email log look like now?

The only thing that's coming up in my email log is "connection to mailbox failed" despite the fact that I get a successful connection message every time I check my mail settings in the general email set up.

Could this be a PHP issue?  I believe that I'm only on php 5.2 or 5.3... I've been holding off on upgrading that, but I would happily do so to make this work.

I don't believe it should be down to the php version although, as I was saying to someone today, some of the 5.2.x releases were notoriously buggy and also the IMAP library used in php is fairly new so there may be bits missing from older php libraries. 5.2 and even 53 are really getting kind of old now....

But - considering that you DID have it working before - witness the images on page 5 of this thread - doesn't really suggest a php issue.

Well, I did get the "connection successful message".... I get that any time I have the settings configured for pop and not imap.  I have not been able to get the imap to work

But you MUST configure using POP.  PBE does not support IMAP mail boxes.

As the codex article on PBE states:

Please Note: Do not confuse this IMAP PHP extension with use of an IMAP mailbox. The Post by Email plugin will always retrieve emails using the POP protocols. It is just the method that is used to connect to the mail server and download emails is governed by the PHP functions available and the IMAP extensions are somewhat misleadingly named.

Ok.... we are moving forward.  I previously had the connection set as pop, and that's why my connection worked.

I switched it BACK to pop now, and I have a successful connection in ONE mailbox... it's a start.

Upon going to the email log, I see now what you mean about there being errors from emails sent from a different address... HOWEVER, those are just the welcome emails that Google automatically sticks in your mailbox.  That's why they were coming from "no-reply at gmail.com"... that had nothing to do with me or any incorrect settings on my part.

1. Next question (which I might have answered just below) why do you think that I'm not seeing a successful connection on ALL of my mailboxes?  They are all set with the correct password and email address settings in each individual forum.

I might be mistaken, but the ONLY difference that I can think of with the one email address which was a success was the fact that I visited:accounts.google.com/unlockcaptcha... when signed in from that one successful account.  I just went through the other 15 accounts, logged in, and did the same thing.  How quickly can I assume that the thing will update and check again?  I just hit test email settings after doing it, and it appeared that I simply have the same log status... no new times or tests in the toolbox.
Next question:
The gmail inboxes that are designated to the forum... are THEY supposed to get an email from my website every time a new post is made?  They are getting nothing.  No mail is being sent to the forum email addresses.  The only mail that is being sent is from my website, to me.  Why isn't my site sending anything to the forum mailboxes?

'the thing will update'? What 'thing'? I have no knowledge of the google end of your equation so I am afraid these are possibly questions you will have to ask google.

I just hit test email settings after doing it, and it appeared that I simply have the same log status… no new times or tests in the toolbox.

The test connection doesn't put an entry in the email log. The email log is for showing the emails that have been received and processed.

How do you know only one mailbox is working by the way? I don't think we show that anywhere do we?

I am sorry but i think you are missing the whole concept of what PBE is about. It has NOTHING to do with YOU receiving any emails whatsoever. The email boxes you set up have NOTHING to do with the operation of the forum. They are simply repositories where PBE can look for emails that may have been sent to a specific forum (one box per forum) - and sent by a known and identifiable user. We never look at ours. They are just a transport mechanism if you like. I really do not know how else I can describe this. Most of our users set them up, enter the connection details and they are off and running.

The latest update - I don't think Steve has released it yet - simply adds a little more detail to why a particular email reply may fail to get processed.
