I have the Private Message feature on in my forum, and when I receive notifications of a private message, it appears in my inbox from "My Website", via some long, random string of numbers/letters "p3nlhg1065..." with a subject line "New Private Message".

Same thing with notifications on posts I'm subscribed to. As the Admin, how can I update each of these things for both PM and subscriptions?

Who the email is "From"

"via" ____

"Subject line"

Thanks!

Well you can set some WordPress filter overrides in the forum admin > Options >Email settings but at the end of the day sending and processing emails is a WordPress core task.

The random numbers etc., sound like they may be interference from another plugin perhaps? Anything active to do with emails?

We only use the email feature within the Forum, specifically for subscriptions and PM's... I was thinking it would be a setting within Simple:Press, but it sounds like you're saying it's something having to do with my actual WordPress settings?

yes, all emails are sent by WP... as a plugin for WP, we just use their functionality... but we do have to call it... Did you check the setting Andy asked you to?

the problem with wp emails is sometimes host based - especially with shared hosting... by default wp send emails from wordpress@yourdomain.com... if that email doesnt exist, some hosts wont send the email... our setting, our the HGK plugin mentioned by Andy can overcome that issue...

I went to: admin > Options, but the only email settings I'm seeing is whether or not I receive them. I didn't see any mention of a HGK plugin... what's this? I don't mind overriding the WP system and having a plugin that can solve this issue if that's the case and what you're suggesting. Thank you!

I actually said forum admin > Options > Email Settings. It is a whole pane all to itself.

The HGK SMTP is a WordPress plugin. You should be able to find it by searching the WP plugin repository. Admin > Plugins > Add New should find it.

sorry, replied via email last night... and we had two very similar topics going on...  this one is not where Andy mentioned HGK...

but its a plugin for WP... HGK SMTP is the plugin name...  its for enhancing wp email support and giving you full control over the email addresses email comes from out of wp...

in the email settings, its forum - options - email settings...

Is there any reason why I wouldn't have "email settings" as one of the panes under the options, because I do not see that there. The only thing related to email options is whether or not I want to receive notifications for all new topics/posts or not. There is nothing where I can change the settings of the emails in general. I will look into the WP plugin you suggest. Thanks!

Awesome - thanks for the screen shot. I was going to forum > admin, instead of forum > options. Thank you!
