Thanks fot the reply!
I've tried installing some other plugins from the Simple:Press website by using the Simple:Press installer. None of the Zip-files could be installed in the program. Also the FTP-way doesn't make any difference....
Every time the same message: The package could not be installed. PCLZIP_ERR_BAD_FORMAT (-10) : Unable to find End of Central Dir Record signature.
Since there's enough free space on the server (2% in use) I assume there might be something wrong with the Simple:Press installation on the server.
I'm getting a little hopeless, what do you sugest?
If you unzip and ftp upload the plugin there is no zip file that it should be looking for. You should see the plugin you uploaded in the Forum Admin plugins section right after it has been ftp uploaded.
Are you not seeing that?
Wanted a forum on my website, so I've installed Simple:Press ver. 5.2.6 in the WP plugins and activated it.
Made some (personal) changes in the program-layout on the admin-section of SP. So far so good.
Then, I decided to look for a Dutch language plugin on the SP downloads site. Downloaded the Language/theme thing and stored on my hard drive. I also have downloaded a .mo file from the (dutch) translations, just for the case.
The first time I tried to load the plugin (Zip file) in the WP plugins, this didn't work. (See message in my first post)
After that, I tried to load the ZIP file in the forum admin section---> same result!
Then tried to install the files with FTP (Filezilla) in the directories specified in this forum.
I hope this information will help you in solving my problem.
I uploaded the unzipped plugin files with filezilla to the specified folder on the host-server. (wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins)
Then started up WP and went to the forum admin section, looked for available plugins, it said no plugins found
Maybe the specified directory isn't the right one, as the plugins are NOT vissable in the forum admin section....
I can't see/find ANY uploaded plugin in this section, in fact I only wanted the forum (button)language to be changed in dutch.....
Go to the forum admin > integration > storage locations. Look for the forum plugins folder. Is it marked as readable and writable? In fact - are all the folders marked as readable and writable?
By the way - is it that you just want your forum in Dutch or do you genuinely want the language switcher (which only switches labels - not content of course). If you just want your forum in Dutch then you don't use this plugin for that but visit our translations site.

All folders are marked as readable/writable, and yes, I only want the labels to be written in Dutch. I downloaded the ".mo" file from the translations site and copied it (with filezilla) in the specified folder, no result. I also tried copying it in several other folders, no result.
In fact, I can't get ANY plugin to be working in SP. Could it be it has something to do with updating SP to the latest version, or should I change settings somewhere in the admin sections?
Firstly - did you follow the instructions in this codex article on how to install the language files?
if you did AND assuming that the translation of the Simple:Press core plugin is complete then load your forum page and click on the acknowledgements icon in the footer - the little 'i' - to see if some or all of that has been displayed in your language.
Again assuming it HAS been translated and assuming you have the filename and WP config connection correct and if you are still seeing it in English then yes - there is a reason SP is not pulling material from your server. and no - of course it has nothing to do with versions.
So - if you are STILL having the problem you may need to check the UID and GUI of the server sp-resources folder and its children. It should be the same as the parent wp-content folder but we do come across a server every now and then that wont allow us to create the folders SP needs properly. If you do not know what the UID and GID permissions are then I would strongly suggest you ask your hosting support to check them for you.
If you DID see translations in the acknowledgement popup then things are working as they should and the reason most of your site is not showing in your language is because most of the displayed text is derived from the SP theme you are using NOT the core. You will need to install the theme MO file as well.
