Support Forum
Hi team,
Any insight is much appreciated.
Let me just start by saying that there are no known problems with the widget. No other users with issues and, indeed, we use it ourselves down in the footer.
of course - everyone will see something different depending on their permissions. So first question is - were you logged in at the time?
As a guest visiting your site I see a post list (just a couple of minutes back) of: 49 mins, 1 hour, 1 hour, 7 hours, 17 hours, 19 hours, 22 hours, yesterday, yesterday, 2 days ago.
I assume that this is different to what you see. And probably different to what members will see.
The one thing I do notice is that you have some sort of cacheing of pages, Page caching is fine for static data like blog posts but not good for dynamic and constantly changing data like a forum. This can have all kinds of unexpected and spurious issues.
All the page cache plugins that I am aware of allow you to exclude certain pages. You will need to exclude the forum page for a reliable display. I am unaware of the one you are using so I am afraid I can not tell you how to do this! But when you are running with the most up to date data then it will interesting to know if the problem rights itself.

Sorry for not responding sooner, I am just now able to take another look at this.
I see the same, both when logged in as a member, and when logged out as a visitor.
The trouble is that the widget won't display multiple recent posts from the same forum, or the same thread.
For example, lets say there are 3 posts within the same thread, that were posted 1 minute ago, 2 minutes ago and 3 minutes ago.
The widget would only display the post from 1 minute ago. It would then go looking at the next forum, and post the most recent post from that forum, even if that most recent post is days old.
Make sense? Hope I'm explaining this correctly. I will continue to investigate.
Thank you for your assistance,
Ryan
well, two different things there... it does show multiple topics per forum (just tested and you can see it here)... but its not designed to show multiple posts from the same topic... why would it? the link would essentially take you to the same place (topic)... so yes, we do limit to one entry per topic..
a bit confused though (might be terminology), but are you saying you are not seeing multiple topics in the same forum?

Gotcha, I understand now.
In my case displaying multiple posts from the same topic could be useful. I run a fishing website so people are very interested in seeing when the latest update was posted in a specific topic.
However I am being really picky here, lol. The widget works well as it is, I was just curious about other options.
Thank you for the helpful replies.
There is a template tag that does, if I am not mistaken, do what you are asking. I believe it has the same layout etc., although I have not used it myself. But there is no widget for it. There is a template tag (i.e., php function call) and a WP shortcode however.
See here for details:
