Support Forum
I always do it via a gui from control panel...
but perhaps this google search item will help:

Once again you nailed it!
I now see the correct message on the plug-in that the PHP install includes the IMAP library.
IMAP c-Client Version is 2007f and SSL Support is enabled.
Issue now is that a new email message goes to the webserver inbox but doesn't show in the forum.
Also, any attachment to a reply posted to the forum does not show in the email notification.
We're getting there (I think!)
Cool, you are getting there. Your Post by email log is full of "Connection to mailbox failed" messages so it looks like it can't connect to the mail server. We should probably check one manually by actually adding it to an email program. How about blog_discussions@in.ivy...? That way we can make sure the settings are correct for all the mailboxes.
Mr. Papa may pipe in on the attachments from a post in the forum going to the notification email, but right now I don't believe they do.
correct, attachments and html are stripped from notification emails... we used to do html emails, but that was a nightmare of problems for users... getting you going is a walk in the park compared to that mess...

Would it help if I set up a test account for this?
Right now you have a bunch of forums setup for PBE. All of them are showing as cannot connect. Running the cron job manually takes forever waiting for it to time out. I would think it would affect your forum when it runs automatically.
You may not want to hear this but I would uninstall (not deactivate) the PBE plugin which will wipe out all the settings and email addresses you already put it. Then reactivate and setup the main PBE email options.
At that point create a private admin type of forum with PBE, you can use an already created email address, then test only that forum.
Once it's working then add it to the other forums like you have it now.
Also have your guy check the Configuration File (php.ini) Path and make sure it's the one he wants. It is showing /usr/local/etc/php53
I've done as suggested and went back to all defaults - Port 110, SSL and TLS off. Nothing came to my email, so trying different ports.
New quirk - I posted the first topic in the Test Account, yet when I go back to the forum, it says there are no topics (even though I can see the one I posted). When I click directly on the topic link from the forum page, it tells me "Access denied - you do not have permission to view this page"
A quick window pops up that says "invalid database query." Took a few times to be able to read it.
please go to forum - toolbox - error log and see if you can get more details on the invalid db query...
