One more question before I start copying and editing template files. Do the changes you have made assume that the plugin is activated? Just want to be sure before I attempt any testing after I make the changes... If it does assume rather than check, I will just make sure to activate it before I switch to the child theme and test it
D'OH. Never mind...

Yes, I only see the "activate theme" & "delete theme buttons.
I am curious. Should the "Parent" line of the sptheme.txt be on a line of its own? Here is how mine looks currently:
Simple:Press Theme Title: RbtOTK Parent: reboot
Version: 1.0.2
Theme URI: http://simple-press.com
Description: OTK Child Theme Based on Reboot
Author: Ike Staines, Andy Staines & Steve Klasen
Author URI: http://simple-press.com
Stylesheet: RbtOTK.css

Simple:Press Versions: 5.5.5 and above

OK. I went to clear the error log before I switch to the child theme and found this:
11/25/2017 2:28 am | spaErrError | 11 | database
file: /home/wp_t2rx8u/thelemicknights.org/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins/rank-info/library/sp-rank-info-components.php
line: 58
function: spdb_table
error: You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ') AND admin=0' at line 1
SELECT * FROM wp_cpm4sp_sfmembers WHERE (posts >= 0 AND posts < ) AND admin=0
I doubt this is related as I haven't changed anything yet. Should I be worried?

OK as far as the child theme goes everything appears to be working fine! I am assuming that I could, simply by editing those same lines in the template files make it so that only Topics and topic replies could be shared (versus sharing entire forums? Or just tell the other admins not to share anything but topics and replies LOL
