As for sharing to social stuff, that is really it...

Been on travel (at 38000 feet now) so need to check with Andy and what has been looked at... But was it causing problems or just not working?  If not working maybe leave activated so we can investigate...

Hi SP Experts,

I have the Sharethis plugin activated, but I don't see it showing up. That's problem one. I have removed any plugin on my site similar to a sharethis or like this type of plugin. I have zero. I reinstalled the ShareThis Plugin from my SP Forum section and still don't see it.

My other problem is that my WordPress Comments are at the bottom of every page on my forum. I have spent over an hour this morning trying to figure out how to remove them and nothing I have read/found yet seemed to work. I noticed on my main home page, http://www.aorticdissection.com there are not comments, but on my other pages and posts, the ability to leave posts is there. Because 95% of my post will come directly from WP to SP, not sure if that is the issue? But I reviewed all the Showcase forums and I am not sure how they are set up, but I don't see the wordpress comments at the bottom. I have an email into the guy that did some customization to my site and was able to remove the comments from my main static home page to see if he has an idea. Thanks again!

comments: I covered this in detail in post #8 explaining how to remover comments from a WP. This is a WordPress territory not Simple:Press. However if you wish to remove comments on ALL pages then turn the off in the WP Admin - settings - discussion Note however that if they are turned on at page level they will still appear.

I really would recommend you spend a couple of hours reviewing all of the WordPress admin and Simple:Press admin options and settings and familiarising yourself with them.

Share this plugin: I need to talk to @mr-papa to see of he has any ideas why you are getting the script error.

well, you say there is no share this outside of SP, but this does not appear to be the case... your page has:

<script type="text/javascript" src="http://w.sharethis.com/button/sharethis.js#publisher=feb41288-7645-4f0b-bc2e-3a73e024e3f4&type=website&post_services=email%2Cfacebook%2Ctwitter%2Cgbuzz%2Cmyspace%2Cdigg%2Csms%2Cwindows_live%2Cdelicious%2Cstumbleupon%2Creddit%2Cgoogle_bmarks%2Clinkedin%2Cbebo%2Cybuzz%2Cblogger%2Cyahoo_bmarks%2Cmixx%2Ctechnorati%2Cfriendfeed%2Cpropeller%2Cwordpress%2Cnewsvine&button=false"></script>

which is not coming from simple press... and appears to be prohibiting our sharethis js from displaying...

do we have access to the admin of this site?  would like to investigate... also, would be good to see your sharethis options in simple press..

Hi Mr. Papa,

I don't appreciate the lecture from Swordfish, his constant reminders to read things is annoying and if you are going to spend $80.00 for the Gold Membership, then quit lecturing your customers! Very annoying. I spent several hours trying to figure out it if he had read my prior post. His answer was INCORRECT to begin with as I tried that. If I hadn't and it worked, I wouldn't be reposting the topic.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX login info removed. Thanks Mr. Papa.

Brian 🙂

why would you post your login info in plain view?  I have removed it for your protection...

Andy is correct in the comments respect...  We have ZERO interaction there...  and if you have comments enabled on the page, your wp theme is showing them...   so you need to edit the wp page the forum is on and disable comments and trackbacks/pings... as he said in post #8... quite correct...  guess there is a slim, almost zero if not zero percent chance you have a very bad wp theme and its outputting comment stuff regardless of the wp settings, but highly doubt the theme would be that bad and bogus...

will take a look when I get a chance...

I got the Comments removed from the pages. Lesson to Mr. Swordfish, if you are using another theme inside of Wordpress like me, I used Thesis, you have to go into Site Options. So, instead of stuffing blanket comments back down your paying members, you might want to ask clarifying questions. That leads to good customer service. I am about 1 second to removing my Forum based on his attitude and getting my money back.  Brian

I have fixed your problem with share this...  you had hard coded loading of sharethis javascript in your thesis header options, additional scripts section... so you were already loading a different version of the js but not using it...

after correcting your hard coded script, the share this stuff is now appearing...

I would just like to point out - regarding your message above to Yellow Swordfish, we have no way of knowing individual themes settings as there are literally thousands. Everything he has said so far has been correct for general WordPress practice and in fact it was me who was incorrect.

He's not such a bad guy.. If it wasn't for his generosity I would have charged you for the child theme.

Ok............. Hats off to the ENTIRE SP TEAM..... IN ALL SERIOUSNESS. 1000% amazement and respectfulness for this entire team of dedicated individuals. This type of serious support is what TRULY separates the SP forum from all others period. There really is NOT COMPETITION out there that even comes close to the SP forum and support. Mr. Swordfish, Mr. Papa and Ike are all three well rounded experts in this Forum field and monitor their support forum 7*24 or at least it appears that way. If you are in the market for a Forum, look no further than Simple Press, as the name says it, it's a Simple Forum with Simple down to earth real live people who DO care about the product, but more importantly, their customers. In the end, you won't find any better value than this product.

Hats off to the entire SP team of experts.

One happy customer!

Brian 🙂
