Subscribing Users to a Private Forum as the Default

Hi,
I have been searching the forum for a possible solution.  I understand the logic behind the subscription plugin, allowing the ability to opt-in.

The closest to my situation that I've found is this, it's similar but not exactly the same.

https://simple-press.com/suppo.....ermission/

Basically I sell group memberships where the main member and their subusers have access to a private forum.  They are the only ones who can access that forum and that is the only forum they are allowed to access.

It would be very beneficial if there was a way I could make the main member & subusers by default subscribed to just that forum.

Is that possible?

No, afraid we currently dont have a way for users to be auto subscribed to a forum...

as admin, you can edit their profile and subscribe for them...  not ideal in your case, I understand...

we can consider it for the future...

Thanks for the reply.  The manual approach will have to do for now but that would be great if you would consider that option in a future update.

Is there any time line for when future updates to a plugin like "subscription" might occur?

A little off topic but just checking I am doing this correctly.

I've been setting up a new user group for each main member and adding the main member and their subusers to that new user group.

In forums I create a new group setting the new user group to standard access and the rest to no access.

I then create a new forum in that group.

Is that the best way to do it?

If I set the permission in the forum group, do I need to set them again when creating the forum or will they default back to the settings of the group?

Thanks again.

just released an update to the subscription plugin today... but not with your desired feature...  but the point is that we are continually updating them...

If I understand right, you just want each member to have a unique forum... correct?  if so, and only that person can access that forum, then you are doing it right...  you will need a unique usegroup for each forum... and assign that singular user to that usergroup...

however, you do not need to set the rest of the usergroups to no access... if a user does not have a membership in that forum, they will get no access anyways... so can save some steps there...

so I would create the new forum, create the new usergroup, assign the user to the usergroup, give the usergroup standard access on the new forum and done...

not sure how you are doing it, but I think I would have a single group and have each user specific forum belong to that group... save you some time have to set up the default group permissions if you created a unique group for each forum...

does that help? of course, assume I have understood what you are doing... ;)
