I ran into this same problem. It looks like $subs['digesttype'] is not getting set correctly, so line 88 is defaulting to "weekly" for $type. As a workaround for now I've hardcoded line 88 to read as follows, with the original code commented out:
$type = __('daily', 'sp-subs');

are you on the latest version of subscriptions? this was the case several versions ago, but was fixed... so just checking... of course possible we knocked it again...

can confirm there is a path where the digest type will get screwed up... took a while as my early testing showed it correct, but was able to come up with a path (not too uncommon either) for the incorrect digest type in the email...
fixed up and will be in the next release of the plugin...
