Support Forum
After installing Tags Plugin 1.3.15, an error message appears on top of the website and above the plugin table: Undefined index: editor in /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/clientsite/public_html/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-plugins/tags/sp-tags-plugin.php on line 84
The blue help button on left becomes very tall as one result of the error. See attached screen capture.
its not an error, but a notice... harmless and not affecting anything... but you really shouldnt be showing notices and warnings on a live production site anyways... when notices occur, we do try to clean them up in next version...
I am a little confuse though how you would be getting a notice there... can you go to forum - options - genera display settings and try saving that panel?? shouldnt matter, but on that panel, are you using the integrated toolbar?

Thanks, Yes, of course, that is why I am reporting it, to alert for the potential need of remedy.
I checked, and the integrate toolbar was not activated. Once selected, the code error and the distortion of other elements resolved. That seemed to fix the problem.
I did not receive an email to your follow-up, but logged in to check. Does this support system not support direct email notifications?
I noticed on the installation of plugins, a administrator has to wade though each forum to activate, lets say the "Post Ratings" for example. It would be beneficial for each plugin, to provide a simple prompt above the Plugin Management panel, that alerts users to what each plugin absolutely requires for expected functions. I just happen to notice the obscure activation selection for the Post Ratings, and realized it had to be activated. I suppose there are lengthy guides that users can read though, and might see the sentence referencing the particular activation requirement, however, other plugin authors provide prompts to eliminate the evasive hunting for that otherwise crucial and lone sentence of instruction. Just a thought.
Thanks!
email notifitcations are available if you have subscribed to a topic...
I was not saying you have to enable the integrated toolbar to remove the notice... I just wanted you to save the settings as is (or setting it is fine too)... for whatever reason, on your system, the variable itself was not defined which is not a normal state and not seen on other installs... saving that screen, with any setting for integrated toolbar would just make sure the variable existed...
you saw 'wade through' but that is only true if you want to activate that type of capability on all forums... many, many folks do not... they may only want polls or ratings, for example, on a single or specific forum... much better to force activation than force deactivation... We have talked about a nag, but have been accused of having too many nags for users... seems we cannot win them all! we can talk about it again...
if you take a look at our codex page for each plugin, we do specify these kind of steps for each plugin... actually a good idea to read about each plugin you are activating anyways... https://simple-press.com/docum.....e-plugins/

Oh... okay, I see the subscribe button now. I am used to forums that have the notifications automatically applied by default, like in vBulletin. Thanks.
Nags are one thing, if they are abstract or not to the point. Instructional prompts with "click to close" forever, as a instruction hint is a valuable function for any plugin.
Yes, I understand the value of force activating over global pre-activation, but if you don't know it is even there to activate... that is the issue.
As a company owner, developer, webmaster, along with being a host, with 10 plus projects going at once, it is simply impossible to read through instruction on every little plugin, hook and module. Most everything I do is winged on common sense coupled with experience. There are many others out there like me... simply can't read everything Prompts are always good for the professional... maybe not the hobbyist or novice I suppose. Hard to imagine them being a problem if properly worded and to the point. Thanks!
interesting, auto subscribing is against the law in many countries (anti spam laws), so hence the default of not subscribed...
as mentioned, we can revisit and have a discussion - there might even be an open ticket on it...
thanks for the input - always welcome!
