"This plugin does not have a valid header" - Wordpress V3.3.1

Hello.

I've downloaded your lastest V5.0 release from your website and attempted to install in on my wordpress blog, unfortunately, something has gone belly-up. I chose to install the WP plug in using the "upload zip file" route from within WP admin. I have absolutely no idea why the plug-in has failed to complete installation correctly.

I am using WP-Clear V3.0 theme on my site, I don't know if this makes any difference?

Please can you shed some light on my issue.

Many thanks in advance.

Hi, thank you for your prompt reply..

I did not have simple forum installed. This was a first-time installation. I chose to upload the zip file  - downloaded from your website to my hard drive then upload via WP admin.

"I need to have simple press directory in plug-ins?"

- I was under the impression that your plug-in created necessary directories within wp-content folders as required upon successful installation, am I wrong?

WP informs me the plug in has successfully been installed but when I choose to activate the plugin I get  - This plugin does not have a valid header.

I hope this explains it more clearly.

I welcome your suggestions.

Best regards,

Eddie

I understand your issue. it should create what it needs but the wp zip loader has been problematic..

my question was after it said it was done, did the wp-content/plugins/simple-press folder get created...

the invalid header is normally from a corrupted upload... do you know what you php.ini max file upload setting is?

so I would remove it (if its there) and try again... but personally, I would ftp everything up instead of using the wp thing...

I've ftp'd the plugin, the old version gone and still get this error:  Fatal error: Cannot redeclare sp_get_option() (previously declared in /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/farr/public_html/wp-content/plugins/the-events-calendar/lib/template-tags-deprecated.php:236) in /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/farr/public_html/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-api/sp-api-primitives.php on line 91

It appears to have a conflict the The Events Calendar plugin.....I need both.

the name of that folder - deprecated - suggests it might be ok to remove it perhaps?
