Oh great.
The table to look at is called 'sfoptions'. Yiou are looking for a row where the 'option_name' is 'tinymce' and I need to know the contents of the column 'option_value'. If you could copy and paste them to me it should help.
Then - to save time - could you replace the current content with the following:
a:11:{s:6:"height";s:3:"360";s:7:"plugins";s:45:"inlinepopups,media,spoiler,spellchecker,paste";s:8:"buttons1";s:119:"bold,italic,underline,|,bullist,numlist,|,blockquote,outdent,indent,|,link,unlink,|,undo,redo,forecolor,charmap,|,image";s:8:"buttons2";s:0:"";s:11:"buttons1add";s:69:"media,|,spoiler,|,pastetext,pasteword,|,selectall,code,|,spellchecker";s:11:"buttons2add";s:0:"";s:4:"lang";s:2:"en";s:12:"rejectformat";b:0;s:3:"rtl";b:0;s:8:"relative";b:1;s:9:"dbversion";i:2;}
Select this using the raw code option is best!

Whoa there!
I keep forgetting this. Look at that data. It is WishList Tags doing this.
What we don't yet understand is (1) Why WishList tags is writing data to that particular row (tinymce) and (2) why it is even writing data to one of our forum tables!
But that looks like the culprit.
And sorry to say that at the moment - I don't have a solution handy... I don't even know what WishList tags does or is for!

Hmm.... The folks at WishList told me that I needed the TinyMCE plugin for SP in order for the tagging plugin to work. WLM Tags allows you to "tag" or "mention" another member and have them notified (like Facebook/Twitter, etc.). I'll turn this back over to them now.
NOTE: I said above that the buttons were still not showing up after adding in your code, but the WLM Tags plugin was still active. I deactivated it, replaced the code in the DB again and voila! the buttons are there. So definitely working now on your end (THANK YOU!) and I'll go bug their developers again....

You are really going to have to ask someone to see if they can spot any script errors. I am not actually sure how you do that using IE but surely there must be a way? Without some hard data we have nothing to work with as so far this seems pretty unique to you.

Really - I don't recall that. So - ok 2!
But this gives you a good opportunity to discover if your sites have anything in common - i.e., using the same theme or one of the same plugins that nay be causing some sort of conflict with the Windows Javascript engine. Worth a try anyway.

Thanks for all your help! I did receive an updated plugin from WLM this morning, and there were still some issues. For now, we just won't use that functionality. Thanks again for helping me track down the culprit! Having the TinyMCE editor buttons is more important to us than the tagging functionality (which wasn't working regardless, lol). I'm sure that they'll work out the bugs soon since a LOT of people use both SimplePress and WishList Member.
