Dear Mr. Papa,
All problems finally resolved, after messing around for 3 daysYahoooooo!!!
Wordpress Plugin Organizer plugin rescued us from this mess I installed Plugin Organizer and disabled all the WP plugins from loading, except SP, for /forum/ slug. Everything now runs smooth.

Well, good news! Just when I was ready to engage again. or at least later tonight.
Haven't heard of that plugin before. Will have to remember that in the future for these quirky ones. Thanks for the tip.

I was also not aware of that plugin. I Googled for "Selectively Disabled WP Plugins for a specific Page" and it came up at the top of the search. I will give this plugin a five stars. You can selectively disable unwanted plugins for each page and post. It is also good for prevent loading unnecessary plugins for each page, and resolve a lot of plugins conflicts.
SimplePress does not need any WP plugins, as it loads its own plugins. The Plugin Organizer is a great companion for SimplePress to disable all the WP plugins for the forum page. It will save users a lot of troubleshooting headaches and time.

depends on what the site does and where... you might still need some functionality on the page... but, as you point out, certainly great for those cases when you dont need it...
