I just got my forums into Simple:Press, however, I am lost as to how to customize them.
Is there a way to get trained with tutorials or videos on the functionality of Simple Press.

afraid the best place to start is the codex… alot of the template functions used in the theme template files are documented there…
and of course, if you have any questions, ask away here… we are here to help…
I have set up a menu to go to my forums. Right after the selection I get a page in between, before the forum loads. It is not a very attractive page, but it doesn’t last enough for me to see what it is about. but I think the is just the site loading as plain text before properly loading the page the way it’s supposed to.
Where do I go to customize my forums?
sorry, what do you mean by customizing your forum? what do you want to do?
a link to site?
Thanks for your reply, Mr. Papa. I want to change the appearance of the forums. What I see right now is very basic in the exterior.
I want to be able to take advantage of the features of the plug in, rather than to rely on default settings.
More urgently, can you help me with the bug as I stated above?

Thank you very much.
You are also having the forum displayed twice.
You should take a look here http://codex.simple-press.com/codex/faq/troubleshooting/i-am-seeing-multiple-forums-displayed/ and make some of those changes to fix that first.
It may also take care of the other issue.
Thanks Brandon, that worked exactly right.
One last thing, if I may. I have several forums which I want to restrict based on my WishList members lists. I have been told that Simple:Press is fully compatible with Wishlist, however, I do not see the forums under Wishlist content. Anything I could do from your perspective?
Thank you very much!
The forum isn’t under WL you have to setup different member levels and WP roles and then assign each forum to the WP role that matches the WL level.
More on that here. http://codex.simple-press.com/codex/faq/problem-with-post-edit-buttonow-to/problem-with-post-edit-buttonow-to-configure-simple-press-with-membership-plugin/
I want to restrict access of 3 forums to a Wishlist Membership level called “Advanced”.
hard to follow… but a member will always get the ‘best’ permission for any particular forum… so if they have membership in two usersgroups which are assigned with different permissions to a forum, they ‘best’ permission will win… so if one says allowed and one says denied, then they will be allowed…
so if they are in members or moderators, that may be the controlling permission vice the special one you created…
I gather from what you are saying is that I should only have in my forum one assigned user group and one permission set. i.e. the AdvancedGroup=>OptionsVet User access, and eliminate the Members=>Standard Access. I suppose I have to leave there also the Moderators=>Moderator Access.
However, if I delete the Members=>Standard Access, I get a red highlight on my forum and this message:
Warning – There are no usergroups with members that have permission to use this forum
I have tried to follow the instructions in codex to the letter, and that is how I have explained it to you. I am still not further ahead. Eventhough I have been working for days on this.

There are two ways of doing it. The method you have already outlined – remove all other User Group/Permission pairings from the target forum leaving just the one you want. Or – leave the Members User Group but just set it to a permission that has no access at all.
As to the warning message – are you saying that this is not correct? Are you saying that your AdvancedGroup does ave members? And when you go to the User Group management panel and click on the ‘show users’ button then members are listed in that Group?
I am begining to understand the logic of the structure here. I see that the issue is that my AdvancedGroup has no members.
I am not sure why because the WishList “Advanced” Level has 17 users. I though that the point of the whole process I went through as described in the codex was to get the two plug ins (Wishlist and Simple:Press) to work together.
