Support Forum
I have just tried to upload a new plugin to my Simple:Press Forum but keep getting a WordPress Failure Notice so I tried to upload it by FTP using Filezilla, but got the message Permission Denied. I checked the file permissions on the forum-plugins folder and that is 0755 so I cannot understand why I cannot upload this plugin. Are you able to throw any light on the situation?
are you uploading to the right place?

and btw, if you are getting permissions denied from your ftp client, that has nothing to do with simple press... means something wrong on sp-resources or forum-plugins permissions or uid/gid... they should match wp-content... I would investigate the uid/gid... most ftp programs allow you to look at that...

I am definitely uploading in the right place. I just keep getting a message saying:
Are you sure you want to do this?
obviously we have no interaction with the ftp app trying to upload to your server...
did you check uid/gid as requested?
as to the wp message (we use their uploader), something failing on the wp nonce check... does the user have wp capability (role) to activate_plugins?

I'm sorry but I have no idea what you mean by uid/gid.
When you say 'does the user have wp capability (role) to activate_plugins?' I presume by 'user' here you mean me, because it is me that is trying to upload the plugin. As far as I am aware I have full permissions because I am editing the website and there are no other users at this stage.
see: http://oldfield.wattle.id.au/l.....sions.html
its the user and group owner of the directory on your server... need to check sp-resources against wp-content.. or ask your host... if ftp cannot upload then its a server permission somewhere...
you can usually see the uid/gid from an ftp client...

I am still struggling with this. No matter what I do I cannot seem to change the permissions to 777 for the folder to put the plugin into - it just keeps defaulting back to 755.
I am now wondering if there is another way around this. The plugin I am trying to upload is the Subscriptions one. Is that the only way that I can have the forum notify members if someone else posts to a topic that they have created or posted to, or is there another way to do this? Also, what is the difference between 'watch' and 'subscribe' and does the Subscriptions plugin cover both?
we do not require 0777 on folders in fact discourage that... since you cannot change it, sounds like a uid/gid issue... wrong user and group owner for folders... check on the sp-resources dir... should be same as wp-content... ask your host if you need too...
