Hi

I'm trying to upgrade the plugin - the software worked - but the database upgrade fails:

Upgrade Simple:Press From Version 5.1.1 to 5.3.3 - (Build 8675 to Build 10774)

I've enabled the debug and I get the following at the top of the dashboard:

Notice: Undefined index: cache in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-site-constants.php on line 66 Notice: Undefined index: cache in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-site-constants.php on line 67 Notice: has_cap was called with an argument that is deprecated since version 2.0! Usage of user levels by plugins and themes is deprecated. Use roles and capabilities instead. in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2969 Notice: get_theme_data is deprecated since version 3.4! Use wp_get_theme() instead. in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-includes/functions.php on line 2871

The database upgrade results:

Upgrade Aborted

current build: 8675

Notice: Undefined index: cache in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-site-constants.php on line 66 Notice: Undefined index: cache in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-site-constants.php on line 67 {"status":"success","type":"upgrade","section":8691,"response":"Build upgrade section 8691 executing. Status: success

","error":""}

Any ideas?

none of those notices (most from other plugins) is important...  what is likely happening is that something is hijacking the ajax request and/or response in teh upgrade... can you try the upgrade with the browser console open... you should seem some ajax activity and be able to see the response and report it back here...

No error messages in the Chrome or Firefox consoles

I get a notice across the top

Notice: Undefined index: cache in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-site-constants.php on line 66 Notice: Undefined index: cache in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-site-constants.php on line 67

And the error when I try and run the upgrade

Upgrade Aborted
current build: 8675
Notice: Undefined index: cache in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-site-constants.php on line 66 Notice: Undefined index: cache in /media/datadisk/var/www/railwayops/wp-content/plugins/simple-press/sp-startup/site/sp-site-constants.php on line 67 {"status":"success","type":"upgrade","section":8691,"response":"Build upgrade section 8691 executing. Status: success
","error":""}

I wasnt looking for errors, but the ajax traffic...  when this has occurred, its been another plugin (like wp super cache) hijacking the ajax request and corrupting the ajax response...

if you are unsure how to check that in the browser console (expanding the traffic), I can take a look if you can provide me with the account credentials for a wp admin that can do the upgrade via pm..

Nothing comes up in the browser console - I'm working on the dev system on my PC which mirrors the live one...

I've upgraded Wordpress recently to 3.6 and am trying to update the plugins as the WP upgrade has caused a few problems.  Simple Press is the last one to upgrade and the only one I've had troubles with.

I'll PM you the details (if that's ok)

So the solution is to turn off Debug mode - database upgraded without problems afterwards - Thanks Mr Papa
