Support Forum
Hi
We have just started to use Simple:Press, so are using the latest versions of Wordpress, Simple:Press and the Image, Media and File Uploader plugin.
All of our forum members who use Safari on iPads or iPhones are unable to select a file to upload -they select the "Add File" button and nothing happens.
I have also tried this with both my iPad and iPhone and found that the same thing happens to me. My iPhone and iPad are both using the current version of Safari, so it's not that we're using old versions.
As a work around we have advised our members to download Google Chrome and use this browser until we have got to the bottom of this problem (as Chrome works).
Our wordpress theme although a Responsive theme, does not use any sort of mobile based plugin. Therefore I'm now at a loss as to why this is happening, is there any advice that you could provide.
Regards
Andy
As a Mac/OSX and iPad/iPhone user myself I hate to say it but Safari just doesn't work properly. It never really has. Considering they use the same WebKit code as Chrome and update it regularly they are way, way behind as far as their JavaScript engine goes and this, as I say, has been a pretty common state for a few years now.
Afraid I abandoned Safari a long time ago and it seems to be just about the only browser that does NOT work. Even less well know browsers, like the excellent Mercury, do a far, far better job.
Apply need lobbying on this relentlessly in my opinion. Until they get it right there is not really anything we can do.

Join the disappointed club! It probably needs more people to lobby Apple to get Safari sorted out, It's JavaScript support has always been - since day one - light years behind all other browsers. As, actually, it's adoption of CSS3 standards.
As my iPhone forces me to adopt Safari as the default browser it would be real nice of the thing actually worked.
