Hello please your help is urgently needed.

i woke up today to see that My forum page was looking broken. The forum page text is huge. It looks like the page has shifted.

I have deactivated all site plugins no change.

I have change the forum theme no change.

I have updated. No change.

I have even tried activating maintenance mode. The maintenance text just shows in the beginning part of the page but the rest of the page remains the same with huge text.

I am not sure if this is it as it was so long ago but there was a time i tried to increase the font over two weeks ago but was unsuccessful i don't know if it somehow activated. I can even remember where i changed it but i followed all the steps in the forum.

Please i would really appreciate someone helping me figure out how to solve the problem.

Thanks a lot.

Hey Mildred,

From the description of 'forum page was looking broken. The forum page text is huge' it sounds like the CSS might not be loaded.

If that's not the case, has anything else updated automatically? I take it you are all up to date i.e WP, SP, WP plugins and SP plugins?

Also, have you tried a default WP theme just to rule that out?

If none of the above are the cause, can you provide a link for us to take a look? If private or requires login, please PM URL, and if necessary - login details to mysel, 'Yellow Swordfish' and 'Mr Papa' with a brief description of the problem and a link to this topic as a reference for the others, and one of us will pick it up.

after you did this did you clear you browser cache and your site cache? Since it didn't work, did you change it back? If no to those it sounds like your browser caught up with the changes you made a few weeks ago

Hello Everyone. The status so far now is that i read through this forum and i went back to my site and disabled combined js and css caching. Now the forum is no longer looking broken and the default themes are working fine. However my child theme looks like it is no longer loading the CSS styles or something as it seems to have no structure and looks bare. Changing between overlays also has no effect as it remains bare. See screenshots.

I have set it back on the reboot theme default temporarily and sent a PM to Ike since yesterday but yet to get a response, probably timezone differences. I really hope he takes a look soon so i can default back to my reg child theme.

Thanks for your help so far.

Yes it was late last night I'm afraid! also me Yellow Swordfish and Mr Papa are in different timezones, if you had of PM'd the info to all of us as I suggested, someone probably could have taken a look sooner..

Looking right now everything looks fine, so could you enable your child theme again and let us know as soon as it's running?

Thanks for setting the child theme back for us.

I'm a bit confused though, looking at the theme editor in the admin panel, it looks like your child theme contains everything that the parent (reboot) does.

This is not how child themes work, and although I'm not sure what the result would be it wouldn't surprise me if this was it!

The child theme only needs to contain the changes, so for example if the only thing you've changed is the spFunctions.php file, then the only files you should need in your child theme would be the spTheme.txt and the spFunctions.php file.

See Creating a child theme

Also just out of interest, I can't access the spTheme.txt in the editor. Could you paste the contents here?
