Using media in posts

Using graphics, movies, sounds and so on is quite bothersome in posts. What i want is the same easy methods as in lots of local mailclients: Choose Insert graphics, use your computers menusystems to click to the right graphic, choose yes and the graphic is in the post.

I understand this is not a simple thing.

But please give me at least drag'n'drop to upload my files.

Now i use tinymce and the image and file uploader. While I wait for the perfect solution, the drag'n'drop interface in the file uploader is what i want to use for media directly in posts.

I think a drag'n'drop interface is used in tinyMCE 4.x. but since it is not the version that is in your plugin section i don't think it is compatible with simple:press?

Simple:Press is a great forum plugin anyway. Thanks.

Sincerely

I am not sure I understand this really. Are you saying that drag and drop (or plain old file browsing) do not work in your uploader? I have no trouble dropping files, videos, images etc., althouguh have not tried with audio files yet.

What exactly is the problem?

OK, reinstalled Firefox and now the uploader works perfectly. I can drag files and i kan use filebrowsing by clicking "Add Files"

Not so perfect: In TinyMCE i can do neither. By clicking insert/edit image I only get a box where i can enter an url for my image. No dragging and no file browsing. I think this feature simply does not exist in TinyMCE 2.x, the version you get from the simple:press plugin?

TinyMCE 4.x has dragging and filebrowsing. Will simple:press work with that? Probably not since it is not in the plugin library...

Think I'll try installing Ultimate TinyMCE anyway. Some problems with that too, reading the posts.

The problem with some of the tinyMCE add-on WordPress plugins, is that they assume that the tinyMCE editor is only going to be used in the WordPress admin. So they add their code in with that in mind.

But it IS a false assumption as the WP tinyMCE can be used on the front end as well - i.e., in SP amongst others. There have been a few issues with these plugins although I do not recall if 'Ultimate' was one of those.
