Support Forum
Still setting up my forum, I need to know which plugins are absolutely essential, bearing in mind I am on a tight budget and I have other wordpress plugins that require modules/extensions/plugins that I have to purchase.
I have the media uploader so far, what else do I need?
thanks in advance!
Well that's a really tough question to answer. It all depends on what you want for you and your users.
Personally, when I become a member of a forum elsewhere (non SP) I expect at a minimum to be able to use a private messaging system, a subscription and or watch topic system, decent search functionality and the ability to upload media.
If it's a support forum of any kind, plugins such as Topic Status, Syntax Highlighter, Unanswered Topics, Answers Topic and Post By Email would all be invaluable.
If it's more social and general aspects you're looking for then you have a lot to pick from!
And lastly but perhaps most importantly, what might you find useful being an admin? The Admin Bar plugin is invaluable to me, and Report post, User Warnings and Suspensions, Ban and Captcha are generally all very useful things to have.
Like I said, it's a tough one. You have to weigh up what might be useful to you and your users for your type of forum.
