Every time I or one of my users posts a forum message via Post by Email, any email addresses embedded in the message are removed from the message text that is posted to the forum. Is this expected behavior? Is there any way to prevent this?

what is the form of the email address?  note the emails are plain text and not html, so any kind of html tags, ie mailto:, would be deleted since they cannot be properly displayed in plain text emails...

What I sent last night was "If you want to send a message to the general membership forum, send it to <members@crescentcitycyclists.org>."What came through was "If you want to send a message to the general membership forum, send it to  ."

Our club president told me he sent a message with several email addresses in it a couple of days ago, but I don't know what format he used.

that is not an email address.. the address would not have the < > in it... its kind of half of an html email address where you would have a name followed by the address in those < > characters... so more than likely the php strip tags function is interpreting it as html markup...

try just the straight email address with no < >

I just realized that the message our club president sent did not involve SimplePress at all. He used the Subscribe2 WordPress plugin to send a message directly to all registered users on our website. So maybe it was something in WP itself or our email host (HostGator) that stripped the email addresses in both cases.
