Youtube video insert/embed from TinyMCE not working

I have ThemeFit Hybrid 1.2.0083 with Simple:Press 5.0.5 and I installed TinyMCE Version 1.0.6.   In wp-admin/Settings/Media, Auto-embeds is checked.  Under VideoPress player I currently have neither ‘Only display videos in free software formats’ or ‘Use the static Flash video player when playing un-shared videos’ checked.  I have tested this with both of them checked, and just one or the other checked and nothing works.

When creating/editing a post, if I click on the Insert/Edit Embedded Media toolbar icon and put a youtube URL in the resulting dialog box, the Preview shows the video but once it is Inserted and the Post saved, the post does not show any video.  I tried Flash, HTML 5 Video, iFrame, it always changes the selection to iFrame once I paste in the youtube URL.  I realize iFrame is not allowed, but is there some method which will result in embedded videos in my posts?  Also, if iFrame is not allowed is there some way to remove that from the options in the selection menu?

Please let me know, thanks.

No, dont use the media button on the toolbar… WP supports oembeds…  just past the url of the video (not the object) directly into the post content…  WP will handle the rest…

If I paste a youtube URL starting with http:// into the Post, the post shows no video or URL in it.  If I paste a youtube URL starting with www into the Post, the Post shows the URL linked, but does not show an embedded video.

I noticed that when I reload the page with the post with the http URL pasted in, it will briefly show a big black box that is probably the video, but then that disappears and it is a blank post again.  Please see http://markwaid.com/mwforum/forum-bugsproblemsissues/this-is-a-test/

what are you pasting in?  it should look like:

http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=F3QqICSAaIo

except no space between the ? and the v…

on wp – settings – media, do you have oembed enabled?  (think thats what you said in first post)…

and you put it right into the post content?  how about disabling the other video plugin and see if its interfering with standard wp operation…

Okay, so when I paste in a youtube video starting with http to a post and it doesn’t show or only shows very briefly, it’s because the WordPress automatic embed thing is creating an iframe, which isn’t allowed.  ARGH!  How can I successfully display embedded videos within the ThemeFit Hybred theme?

I am pasting in a youtube URL starting with http, like the one you shown without spaces.  When I view source on the page WordPress has put it into an iframe.

I removed the media button option from TinyMCE but I don’t have any video plugin.  Still not working.

did you disable that other plugin???  paste your url in here and see…

yes, wp will create an iframe, but that does not matter – that is only at display and not stored…  it doesnt create a security hole like letting users put in iframes…

what other plugin are you referring to?  TinyMCE is a plugin i need for formatting the HTML of posts.  I have no other video plugins.  did you look at the forum page URL I gave?  http://markwaid.com/mwforum/forum-bugsproblemsissues/this-is-a-test/

in your first post… you mentioned video press player… and setting of options… those are not standard wp options…  so assumed you were running some other plugin… maybe its your wp theme that adds that?

yes, I looked at the url… trying to figure out what might be interferring with wp oembeds…

the url itself works fine

Thanks for your fast response.  I found a VideoPress plugin which I deactivated.  Then I went and pasted another http youtube URL into a post on markwaid.com/mwforum/forum-bugsproblemsissues/this-is-a-test/

it is still displaying a blank post page, no embedded video.

and you are just pasting it into the content area – not using any tinymce buttons or anything… as if you had just typed it?

what is the url? enter it here…

yes, i’m just pasting it directly in, not using a button.  I have tried pasting it into the wysiwig text area as well as the HTML editor.  i am pasting this url:

so something still interfering…  what about something called podpress?

or try a quick switch to the wp default theme…
