Adjusting typography color in posts

My apologies if this has been discussed prior, but I did not find anything.  Is there a way to set the color of the font used in posts.  With the way my current theme displays it's content, I prefer to be able to adjust SP's default post typography color separately from the main theme, from which it seems to inherit atm.  I tried using "$mainFontColor = '#ffffff';" in a overlay, but that had no effect.  Is there a way to do this?

Thanks,

Seb

Scroll down in the overlay file to the post content section - $postColor. Change $postColorEven and $postColorOdd as well.
