how can I select badges for Administrartors? There's no option in the menu ...

Components > Forum ranks > Special Ranks. That is where you can upload your badge image file(s) and set them up for specific users.

We don't re-supply any - moat people want to make their own. A base photoshop file of ours can always be sent if asked for of course.

How do we get the icons to show up in place of the text name of the member levels? For instance, I just installed Simple:Press and mine shows just "Admin" ... is there a place to use the icons instead?

currently they are for special ranks... forum - components - forum ranks... in the special ranks section, you can assign a badge to a special rank... then add members to that special rank... anyone in that special rank will display the badge, provided you have the template tag in your sp theme spTopicView.php file... by default, ours did... if you want only the badge, set the argument showTitle=0...
starting with 5.0.5, you will be able to assign badges to usergroups...
