how do i configure the two so that all the sp profile info is shown in the buddy press profile and that the buddypress forum is the sp forum and the activity feed is  the posts from the sp forum ?

have you seen:  https://simple-press.com/docum.....uddypress/

you can make key elements of simple press profile show on buddypress...  but there is currently no way to make buddypress profile show on simple press...

no one else has wanted both to be same - kind of duplicative and not much value added...  most folks want to only use one or the other... since we really can only control the simple press profile, we can put our elements there...

i have read it, installed it, but the sp profile details, country, gender, age, bio etc do not appear, neither does the members posts, pictures, etc.

buddy press activity field shows nothing from sp forum

sp forum does not even show up as a option in the buddypress forum options or settings.

my guess no configuration occurred.

correct... only key simple press profile fields will appear on the buddypress profile form - not all...

in this case, it has nothing to do with simple press core or the buddypress integration plugin... the custom profile fields plugin would need to be modified to put any added fields over to the buddypress profile form..

ok, but is there any way to get the sp forum ranks icons to show up on their buddypress profile , beside their avatar and underneath their name ?

you would have to write  a small little custom plugin...  use the buddypress hook and then when its called, just output the rank...

quote for what?  forum ranks? or custom profile fields? or both?  and just to be clear, where do you want them displayed?  just somewhere on the forum portion of the buddypress profile?

this is a bit easier and more straight forward than the other one you asked about...  if you clarify the above, should be able to get back today...

well i guess what we need is a plugin that copies the forum rank icons into the buddypress profile, lets say next to their avatar.

but also to avoid members needing  to duplicate stuff, takes the members gender, country and orientation from the s2members registration/profile page meta data(which is integrated and displayed in the buddypress profile) and puts it in the "view topic posts template" under the members avatar so it is viewable in the forum posts and therefore also changes the key elements of  the sp profile to be forum rank, country, gender and orientation.

In other words there is three things the plugin needs to do:

1. place the SP forum rank icon into the buddypress profile page next to their avatar.

2. takes the country, gender and orientation from either the buddypress profile or from s2members so it goes into the "topic view template" to be seen in forum posts

3. and replaces the  custom profile field data that exists in "profile view" so it again shows gender, country orientation from s2members or buddypress.

it seems only necessary to to have one member editable profile running and as buddypress has the social networking functions i think it makes sense that it is the main profile.

#1 may or may not be possible... would have to check to see if bp has a hook right there...  simplest is to add it/them to the forum profile page in buddypress..

#2 would not be part of a plugin... you just have to add that to your sp theme template file for spTopicView.php...  assuming we added our custom profile fields to the buddypress profile, which is what we started talking about in this topic...

#3 again, not part of plugin...  just need to add to your sp theme template file for profile popup or page (whichever you use)....   if you saw the custom profile fields plugin update released today, there is a new template tag that makes this even easier than before...

yes, we were talking about buddypress... wouldnt want to take the time to learn s2member...
