I find it in the theme list, but it does not work

1) I created a new folder (default child) in forum themes => wp-content / sp-resources / forum-themes / default child

2) I imported the directory structure of default in the default child folder

3) I changed sptheme.txt adding this content:

Simple:Press Theme Title: Default child
Parent: default
Version: 1.2.9
Theme URI: https://simple-press.com
Description: The Simple:Press default theme featuring traditional forum layout with numerous color layout options
Author: Andy Staines, Steve Klasen and Brandon C
Author URI: https://simple-press.com/custo.....very-need/
Stylesheet: my-child.css
Screenshot: spTheme.jpg
Simple:Press Versions: 5.5.1 and above

Is that this is the right procedure or not?

what does 'does not work' mean?  a few more details please...

in you spTheme.txt file you said the css file name is my-child.css... did you rename the original default css file to that??  the original default css file is actually php...

Hi, thanks for the reply.

OK i understand that the style file still dafault.php.

I suppose that i have to copy it and modify it to adjust it to the child theme. But do you know what kind of modification i have to do?

Thanks in advance.

Basically, as long as the spTheme.txt file is correct and the corresponding files are correctly named, you are done. If you have only made changes to the stylesheet for example (default.php) then keeping the folder structure you can remove everything else bar the files that have been changed.

Also, say you have only changed one line of code in the stylesheet, you can remove all other lines as it will be loaded over the top of the parent, and doesn't need everything else.

are you asking about css changes or getting child functional?  assuming latter, delete the default.php file in your child theme and add a new file my-child.css and then add your custom css changes to it...  if other, please clarify...

where are you having problems in the article on how to do it?

is there something you are trying to do in the child theme?  or just activate a blank (ie no changes, just use parent) child theme?
