Error: Can't upgrade to Simple Press 5.6

It appears you are attempting to downgrade your Simple:Press Version. The Build or Version number in the sp-control.php file is lower than the currently installed version in the database.

You must restore your database to this earlier version before you can continue. You cannot simply downgrade Simple:Press files as the database has been upgraded beyond the version you are attempting to downgrade to and may cause irreparable damage to the database.

I don’t know how to access Simple Press Database. Can you please show us where it is located and how to change the version?

First thing to check would be to check in the database in the sfoptions table to see what the values are for sfbuild and sfversion.

To do this, you should be able to access your database from your hosting panel, for example in cPanel you would open PHPMyAdmin, select your database from the left pane and find the sfoptions table which will be prefixed with something unique to your site i.e: xxx_sfoptions.

Then I think on the last page you will find sfbuild and sfversion. Could you post the values here?

are you one of the handful on 6.0??  if so, just edit the sfoptions db table, option name of sfversion and change it to 5.5.10 and you should be able to update…
