How to add custom pages to my theme?

Hello, it's me again :)

I'm trying to expand my theme adding some custom pages like "Recent Posts" list as single pages.

I'm able to show it with WP shorttags, but I want something slightly different. I want them to be part of the forum instead, when I click on the custom page link in the forum I would like the page to open in the space where the forum appears normally (that is keeping the forum head and footer and opening it instead of the forum loop in the middle).

How can achieve this? Also this is my need for the Unread posts list, which seems to not have a shorttag.

Basically I would like to know how can I create a custom template .php file and open it instead of the forum loop in the middle of the page. The codex seems lacking those pages, they are all empty saying that needs to be written.

Thanks for your time and sorry for my english :P

I am not sure what you mean, except for the unread post list, which is the only one you specified...

please see:  http://codex.simple-press.com/.....postsinfo/

for the unread posts and how to open on own page instead of a popup... the popup argument...

Thanks, this is indeed part of what i was looking for.

About the other thing maybe I was a bit confusing. I want to make custom forum pages with SP template tags and display them instead of the forum loop in the center of the page.

I'll make an example to be more clear (note this is just an example):

Let's say I want to add a "What's Happening Now" button in my sp header that when clicked open a page where i have a mix of sp_HotTopicsTag(), sp_LatestPostsTag(), sp_RecentPostsTag(), etc. all in one page. Now, I can already do this making a WP page and adding shortcodes in it. But if i do it the resulting page just uses the WP header and footer, while I want to include the SP header and footer too. Just like when I'm opening my forum page, but with my custom page inside insted of the forum template. How can I achieve this?

What I did to achieve something like that here http://placeshiftingenthusiast.....centposts/ was to create a new SP plugin. You may have to do the same.

I would offer to share it with you but it's old and not updated to the latest SP versions and also may not have group / forum permission checks built it. I don't remember since I created it over a year ago and don't need those checks.

I believe I used the Unanswered SP plugin as a base and changed it to show latest and hot topics. That would probably what I would do now if I recreated it.
