We're starting an evaluation of Simple Press as a replacement for Get Satisfaction.

We've installed it and have it working. Regarding the current layout:

It looks like we need to reduce the white margin (number 3) to give Simple Press enough space to work with. Recognizing that that is a WP and themes issue and not an SP issue, if you happen to have guidance on  this, it would be welcome.

Thanks!

Alex

we've basically figured out this has nothing to do with Simple Press. We widened an area and, Lo! Simple Press looks great.

Good deal. The default theme works pretty well down to about the width of 725px. Then things start to overlap or stack and look funny.

In your evaluation I would be interested in what features GetSatisfaction has that you don't easily have with Simple:Press. More specifically the post or topic status. Like 'under consideration', Praise, Idea, etc. Is that something you like to use on GetSatisfaction?

Simple:Press can do similar with the topic-status plugin but some say it adds to much 'noise' to the site and others say they love being able to set a status on topics.

Next question:

I want to vanish the H2 tag in the forum list (class "posttitle"), because it feels superfluous. However, it quickly becomes clear when I operate on it via css that it's the same H2 from the main blog pages. There, the H2 are needed. Is there a way to select just the elements in Simple Press without selecting similar elements elsewhere? There doesn't seem to be a container model that allows this.

Yes, we like that on GetSatisfaction. I haven't gotten that plugin running yet on Simple:Press. Will evaluate....

Another useful feature on GetSatisfaction is the "Official Answer" feature that promotes a particular answer to the top.

sorry, which h2 tag are you talking about??  the wp page title?  its put there by your wp theme - not simple press...

I would suggest making a custom wp page template just for the forum page and removing the h2 title... see http://codex.wordpress.org/Pag....._Templates if you need some help...

if other, please elaborate...

... why not remove the page title completely using the option on the global display settings admin panel?

since that is used elsewhere, might have negative side effects in the nav menu, breadcrumbs, etc...  for example, doesnt work here because it messes up aforementioned items...

but wouldnt hurt to try...

Wow, nice to have a global setting to do exactly what you wanted. Thanks. I guess I should explore the settings more thoroughly.
