Has anyone started on a mobile theme yet?
Of the themes available does it make sense to use the 'stacked' theme as a starting point? Also does anyone know if there are any PC based emulators for iPhones and iPads out there? I'd like to check them out and do have an iPhone but would much rather run an emulator, at least in the early stages.

Not to my knowledge.
The iForum theme was my initial attempt to make a theme that would sit better on an iPad but it really needs more work.
The way I see mobile themes is that they really need to cut down on all the bells and whistles and cut down on the data and display elements. I.e., get down to just the important data and no more.
Stacked is good in that it lays out the posts in a way that can be targeted at a more narrow layout so maybe is a good place to start.
Safari can be run in iPhone emulation mode but it doesn't restrict the available display size which is what you really need. I don't know of any other tools myself but if anyone else does then please chime in. I would like to know about them as well.
So an iPhone user but no Mac eh? You don't know what you're missing!

Er No actually I said that I had an iPhone. As soon as I was due a new contract phone I got a Samsung Galaxy S2 which I prefer. I can spark up the old iPhone if I have to but it means swapping sim cards etc.
I have found an Android simulator but before I recommend it I'd better play for a while. I'll get back to you shortly.

I was very happy with the ergonomics and instant useablility of the iPhone, it just had a crappy receiver. It was always dropping calls due to poor sensitivity. I realised that I wanted a better phone 🙂
I have grown to appreciate the open nature of Android phones and the Samsung has a very good receiver.
Anyway back to the subject in hand. I can't seem to find a recommended width for the main container for mobile applications anywhere, any ideas?
Does SP5 recognise an iPad as a mobile device? After all it's very different from a mobile phone.
