Hi Papa,

Thanks again for your help, I think now I have an evidence to contact them again and tell them about the issue.

Hi,

My host says that the reason why I am getting the 404 error is ((The reason why you are not able to execute this file is simply because it is located inside wp-content folder, and by default WordPress will not allow you to execute under this folder via the browser for security reasons.))

The theme was working before when I first installed the simple-press plugin and then stopped working while my host hasn't change anything from there side.

That is absolute nonsense and untrue - unless you have put some special items in the .htaccess file or something along those lines - or are using some sort of security WP plugin that may offer a feature like that. Have you tried the 5.2.1 update by any chance?

That has to be one of the strangest statements I have heard from a host... EVERY wp plugin and wp theme is located under wp-content...

and I can guarantee you (as can tens of thousands of others running simple press) this is not a wp setting...

Hi Yellow and Papa,

Thank you so much both for your response, I totally agree with you that this was a strange reply that I get from my host as most of the replies that I receive from them, however I am sure that the theme was working before and therefore the host side is not the issue, but what I am sure of that one of the plugins (Could be a security plugin as you mentioned is causing this). Anyway is there any real difference between the default theme and CSS only. Well it effect me if I continue to run with the CSS only.

the change is primarily trying to combine and cache css and js... Did you ever try turning off combined css cache on forum - options - global settings?

and are you running 5.2.2?

Hi Papa,

Yes I am running the latest version 5.2.2 now, and as I mentioned before both Cache CSS and JS options in turned off, but the same issue, CSS only theme works while no other theme is working. Will running the CSS only theme effect anything of the forum response, performance or plugins. If no, then I will be happy of keeping using it.

No the CSS only theme will have no such effect.
Now you have upgraded to 5.2.2 have you tried turning the caching of CSS files back on again? I think I already asked this...?

No, running css only will not affect performance... just appearance... if you have a favorite other theme and overlay (need to know both), I can create a css only equivalent in couple minutes for you...

this, as we have discussed, is not related to WP, but a server setting where your host is not allowing php parsing of css files...
