Using Hostgator and setup a new site for the forum. Installed Simple Press - no problem. Uploaded both default and then iForum theme and they can install because there is no CSS. What did I miss?

do you have a link?

but more than likely the host has set up overly restrictive php settings and allow_url_fopen is disallowed...

try this post:  https://simple-press.com/suppo.....e/#p118603

grab the file and upload to your server and see if it fixes it...

Replaced the file on the server and the default and iForum themes still would not activate. This time it just went into a continuous loop and wouldn't stop the little processing circle. What would be the next step?

oh, thats a bit different than the first post...  what do you mean by install a theme??  are you trying to activate it?  any errors in your error log?

if you put the url to the them (see your page source) in your browser url, will it load? or do you get an error?

if you give us a link to your site, it would help...

I looked at your site and your wife's site. The cruises look very interesting. My wife and I love to cruise.

cruising is the only way to vacation!  at least for us! ;)

how did you upload the default theme?  it should have already been included with SP?  why were you uploading another?

by default on fresh install it will be in wp-content/sp-resources/forum-themes

and just to be sure, sp themes are different than wp themes...

but when I go to that site, I see the forum just fine... displayed properly with the default theme???  so not sure what the problem is?

do you just need to create some groups and forums?

hope that is a temp account and password since you post it here and anyone can see it... ;)

Thanks for your help. I didn't realize sp and wp themes are separate.

no worries...  the wp theme drives the basic look or you whole wp site...  we fit with the scheme of your wp theme...  but since we add a bunch of elements that the wp theme wont know about and thus not provide styles for, we have to style ourselves...  since we cannot know how a theme will style the wp page, they will be different...

we provide multiple themes and overlays (colors) so you can hopefully get the sp stuff to align nicely with your wp theme... you can also modify the ones we provide or create your own sp theme to uniquely work in concert with the wp theme...

I have the problem that I can't upload any other plugin.

When I try to upload a plugin it just hangs. Any suggestion?

I still have the same temporary User and Password until I get this working.

We have built many other sites, but this is our first with Simple Press.

are we talking sp plugin here?  just to be sure, a primer on sp plugins:  http://codex.simple-press.com/.....g-plugins/

how are you uploading it?  ftp?  or the sp plugin uploader (NOT wp plugin uploader)?
