Problem loading Theme reboot german translation file

Hi

I have a problem loading the german language translation file for Theme "reboot".
The core translation files of SP are loaded and installed without problem.
The site language is set to de_DE German as it shoud be.
But for Theme “reboot” it shows “No Translation Project Exists.

Should be no problem, I followed the guidance in this documentation step by step:
https://simple-press.com/docum.....alization/

What did I do?

(1) Navigated to the translation website here: http://glotpress.simple-press......de/default

(2) Found spReboot-de, only 99%  but that should suffice
(3) Downloaded spReboot-de.mo to my harddisk. Confirmed it is of type .mo
(4) Changed the file name to spReboot-de_DE.mo to align with the language code as documented
(5) Copied the file via FTP to: /wp-content/sp-resources/forum-language/sp-themes according to the manual installation guide.

From my understanding, it now should be possible, to install the translation via the Integration->Language Selection Menu of the Admin Panel.

The problem is:

It still says: “No Translation Project Exists” for Theme reboot

-> rechecked all parameters above, with no change.

-> tried different file names, with no change.

-> added a subdirectory "reboot" and put above file in, with no change.

What am I missing?

Thanks, Hari

An XML file on our server controls the automatic downloading of language files and sadly, I discovered earlier this week that its schema has changed making it unreadable by the language integration routines. I think there best term for this event would be a mis-communication. It will be corrected in time for the next update due next week.

However, downloading the 'mo' file from the translation website, renaming as needed and then placing on your webserver in the right location (which is ALL you need to do)  still works and, indeed, does for many people some of whom I have talked to this week since the problem arose. I see the German Reboot translation is marked as 99% complete so things should be fine.

I have just worked through that procedure with no issue. Well no issue except I can no longer read the buttons on my local test forum 🙂

Thanks, This is *really* strange. Before you answered I rechecked every parameter again for the third time.

Yes, it is .mo.

Yes is is de_DE.mo

Yes it is in /wp-content/sp-resources/forum-language/sp-themes

And still it doesnt show up to be installed in the admin panel. The core files show up and are no different, just in another location, as it should be. *Very* strange indeed.

Any idea what strange èffect might be at work here?

Nothing strange at all. It wont show up in the integration page because, as I already said, we have a problem with the core XML file schema.
I thought you were implying that after installing the file the forum is not showing up in German...

Ah ok. No, I was not implying that. The translation for theme reboot was *not* installed yet.

I on the other hand, was under the (obviously incorrect) impression, that after I *manually* rename and copy the file into the correct folder, then it should work via the integration page.

That means, I have to wait until the update. Thats fine with me, I guess the update is due in the coming days as far as I understood?

But is it working? Are you seeing translated text on the forum? Surely this is actually the important thing. And that has no bearing on whether you can install from the server or not,  You have just installed it manually.. .why do you need to install it from the server when it is already installed?

Good you insisted. Finally the light bulb came, what the missunderstanding is.

I was all the time under the impression, that the "installation" via integration admin panel is *the mandatory* final installation step. And that my manual process was just overcoming the bug, that the language database is not readable from within the admin panel. I mean you said your XML servers are not working, that can mean anything if one doesnt know what they are exactly doing and doesnt exclude a final installation step in the forum code.

NOW the light bulb went on! There is no such thing as a further "installation", after the language file is in the correct directory. I installed already. lol!

I checked and YES, the translation is there. It is working.

Why didnt I check the forum myself? First, because the forum is not live yet, so it doesnt pop into the eye automatically.

Second I guess a sort of "techie tunnel vision". If something isnt installed, it cant be there, so why checking? The idea it could be installed already, never came by me, as the fields in the integration page are called "install" and not just "locate data" or something like that.

Anyhow, case closed. I am happy. 🙂
