Hello Ike,
As you know i am working on a new costum overlay to my forum. I have a lot of subforums and i would like to make a "cleaner" look.
Can you please tell me how to remove the subforum thread count? (see attached image) I want the subforum titles to remain ofcourse.

Hey Meztli, a nice easy one 
If you don't already have the spGroupViewDesktop.php file in your child theme's templates > desktop folder you will need to copy it over from Reboot.
Locate the function sp_ForumIndexSubForums on line 141 and add the argument 'topicCount=0'
It should then look like:
sp_ForumIndexSubForums('unreadIcon=sp_SubForumUnreadIcon.png&topicCount=0', __sp('Sub-Forums:'), __sp('Browse topics in %NAME%'));Should do the trick!

Just one more general question.
I have a hard time finding my way in the overlay. It´s much easier to add the changes to the child theme css. Is there any down side in doing this way?

either is fine... overlay change though can affect a large number of places in the css file... so you may have to change multiple locations in the css file... really just depends on what you want to change as to which is easier...
