What file do I need to alter to remove the breadcrumbs alltogether?

You will find the call in the spHead.php template of your SP theme. Just trace it down it is easy enough to spot. You can edit this with the theme editor. Just comment the line of code out or remove it if you prefer.

I believe I have already recommended a custom theme if you make such changes!

Indeed you have recommended a custom theme - I did create one however I never got it to show up in my available themes. It looks like I am working in the wrong folder again -  would you be so kind to specify the exact path after wp-content/plugins/simple-press/... The only theme folder I have I had to extract from the sp-resources-install-part2.zip.

no, the path is as specified on forum - integration - storage locations... for themes...

by default it would be wp-content/sp-resources/forum-themes
