Simple:Press RSS Strangeness

So here's something strange. This was happening before and I never was able to figure out a solution. When I subscribe to my Simple:Press Forum's RSS feed I only seem to get feed from the site posts and not any from the forums themselves. Let me explain this is happening in a very specific circumstance - that is I use an RSS Widget on my site to show the RSS feed. I'm not quite sure why this would be the case but it's kinda crazy. If I use any other RSS feed in my site's widget it displays correctly. Only my own forum's RSS feed isn't working or rather it's being replaced by my post feeds despite me inputting the correct URL and despite the fact the same RSS feed works fine in my browser.

Any thoughts on why this might be the case? Maybe I'm missing some obvious setting?

UGH- this is probably the wrong forum... my bad... hahah I'd delete this or move it if I could!

Do you have the private 'feedkeys' turned on in the Global Settings Options admin panel?

you are trying to display the feeds in an RSS widget?  on same site?  why?  better to use the recent posts widget or template tag...

any private forums?

what url for the sp feed are you using?  is this the default wp rss widget or from another plugin?

Well - it's a longer explanation but I have my reasons. One of them was to use some of the build in RSS displays to create a news ticker type display of the recent posts across the top of the forum page. There are a ton of plugins to do that but I would pretty well have to roll my own if I wanted to do it with the native Simple:Press.

I am using the default WP widget. I do have private forums protected by the membership plugin s2Member. Is it possible that is somehow blocking the forum RSS feed? Maybe that's the issue?

yes it could be... to see private feeds, you have to use a feedkey... but if you put a feedkey in the rss reader it wont be private anymore and visible to anyone who can see the feed...

OK - I went an disable the s2Membership protection and nothing happened to the RSS widget display - still only displaying posts from my site and not the actual forum feed. The other strange thing I am seeing is using the Recent Post widget only my own recent posts are showing and none of the member post are showing up. I am wondering if that is related.

Are your forum User Groups and forum Permissions all set up correctly? Can you go check through them?

I would guess so but are there specific places I should be looking?
