Small problems with the new reboot

Hi guys.

I am using the new theme reboot, really nice!

Just a couple of small things to fix...

How can I change/increase the font used in the posts? I looked everywhere (I suppose) and found nothing...

Second thing: the "quote" function. There is no box/shade under the text that is quoted. How can I add it? Like this, it looks pretty confusing.

Last but not least, I need new icons. The ones you are using here are probably custom and look fantastic!

Any idea? I am happy to pay to have some custom made, if possible.

Thank you very much. wink

Morning Stefano

Can you confirm if you are ONLY wanting the font size in post content to change or are you wanting the font size to be raised throughout all aspects of the forum display?

When you change something like this then - as you probably know - we do recommend you make a child theme to preserve your changes through future updates so it might be worth doing that first. See https://simple-press.com/simpl.....ld-themes/ for details.

As to the quotes - I will need to check but I believe we already have a fix for that. I will talk to Ike and see if we can let you know what needs doing.

And onto icons. We do not have an icon service as such bit again - I can ask here to see if anyone would like to take it on. Will get back to you on that.

Hmmm...

Good question Andy...

I guess I want to increase the fonts everywhere. I notice that the fonts in the stats area on this forum are bigger and look amazing!

I also want to increase the fonts in the title of each forum.

I will definitely make a child theme, but it's not clear to me how to do it... I will need to work it out.

Thank you for the icons! wink

Let us know when you have the child theme in place and we can point you to the font area you need to change

I am trying to create a child theme but I don't understand how...

I need to duplicate the folder "reboot" and rename it "reboot child", don't I?

If so, I did that but when I upload the folder it overwrites the files in the other one.

I guess I need help...confused

Hey Stefano,

Glad you are liking the new theme! I'm not sure why having a folder which starts with the same name but has a longer filename would overwrite the original reboot folder, I would consider just changing the theme name to something else completely. I have answered a topic recently with step by step instructions on making a child theme so to save my fingers:

Take a look at this post

As to the quote problem, it sounds like another problem I have put a fix up for in another thread:

Take a look at this post

In particular the quote border part.

Currently all known problems have been fixed and the fixes will be included in the next update, so if you wanted to add the changes in the second post above now to your child theme, you will want to remove them when the update comes out - they will just get you by temporarily.

Alternatively if all you are doing is adding the fixes I've posted in the 2nd link, you don't have to worry too much about making a child theme as when an update comes out, your changes will be overwritten with the official changes.

Hope that helps!

Hey Ike!

Thank you for helping me to fix the quotes. It works perfectly now.

As for the child, main problem...

I have done it but it doesn't work. I get this error:

Cannot redeclare spreboot_textdomain() in /problem-with-post-edit-buttonome/irsastri/public_html/wp-content/sp-resources/forum-themes/reboot/templates/spFunctions.php on line 28

I certainly did something wrong, but I don't know what...confused

Sounds like you have a copy of the spFunctions.php file ion your child theme /templates folder which shouldn't be there unless you need to make specific changes.and even then it should be emptied of current code first.

Andy, I really don't understand...

I thought I was supposed to copy the reboot folder and rename it, change a couple of lines in the spTheme.txt file and that's it...

What am I missing?

The only thing you really need in your child theme is anything you want to change. Everything will be loaded firstly by the parent, then your child theme will be loaded over the top.

So if you are only changing the font size, the only files you really need in your child theme would be:

    rebootchild        >     styles        >    rebootchild.php
                                 spTheme.txt
                                  spTheme.jpg

You can delete everything else from your child theme, i.e the templates folder, the images folder, and everything except your renamed stylesheet (rebootchild.php) in the styles folder. All these will be loaded through the parent theme.
