Apologies for not coming back on this.

It's currently good and not quite as good news! We have a fix in place for the correct display of these once the correct display order has been fixed in the UI. What I really want to do is update the UI to make the display order a lot easier to set - and less troublesome. I have sketched out one or two ideas for this and even done some prototyping but I do not see anything making the next update on this aspect. This is partly because we need to respond to some serious challenges posed by WordPress changes coming in WP3.9. Partly because it is actually not so easy to get perfectly right!

But - as I say - the display side of things should come along OK in the next update. I decided not to present code fixes here because the changes were quite complex.

Allright, I'm so happy to hear that you managed to work something out!

Do you know when this update with the fix approximately is going to be released.?

no planned release date as of now... if a critical bug pops up, would might do something quicker, but I would expect (again with no formal date yet) 5.4.1 to hit in our usual 2-3 month cycle - or in February...  but we can have a chat and see what tickets we have now and be thinking about a release timetable...

If you by any chance should get closer to a specific release date, I would very much appreciate if you would update this thread. My project has been on standby for quite some time now because of this (a critical bug, sure it is!?) and I really look forward to continue with it as soon as possible :)

When we know we are releasing an update - to be honest - it will happen more or less immediately after the decision is made and you will then be notified in your WordPress admin.

But I doubt most would call this a 'critical' bug. A nuisance yes - but not really critical surely...

Hi Andy & Steve,

Great to hear you have a fix incoming to solve this issue.

I have not reported it, since it´s more of an nuisance as you wrote, but none the less we experinced the same issue with sub-forums ending up in the wrong order.

Just wanting to update you, that OP is not the only one experince this issue.

Cheers

Really nice update guys, now I can finally move the main forums as I please. And in a much easier way. However I am still having one major problem with the sub-forums.

Created some tests:

Fine:

Fine:

http://s150.photobucket.com/us.....3.png.html

Now I try changing the ordering like so:

Fine:

The problem:

Help! :)

Damn! I think an old bit of code got left in by mistake that should have been removed with the new ordering UI. We were perhaps too intent on checking the database records to make sure the structures were correct.

Can you try a little edit and then re-test your stuff?

File is /simple-press/forum/content/classes/sp-forum-vew-class.php

and down there around line 531 you will find:

asort($subs);

can you comment that line out...?

Problem solved! You are the man!!  😀

In regards to this I just have one final question.

Would it be possible to make it so, that the relevant topics will be shown before the sub-forums? I just think that most people would expect to see the relevant topics as the first thing, and not a bunch of sub-forums.
