In case it helps investigations, the subforums (General topics, Firmware...) were created recently by creating subforums and moving all contents of the "mother" forum (Arnova 10 G2) so the topics are better categorized. The mother forum (Arnova 10 G2) has then been locked to ensure noone write topics there and rather use the subforums.

Can you talk me through how you moved all of the topics?

Can you talk me through how you moved all of the topics?

There were about 140 topics to move to 6 subforums. Myself and 2 other forum moderators did the move by using the "Moving this topic" from the forum toolset. We did share the move actions between the 3 of us, but it could be that a few topics have been done by 2 people almost simultaneously... I don't know if this could cause a problem.

Anyway, I am starting to realize this problem is database related, as a test forum I just created seems to display the last post correctly (see subforum test, http://www.arctablet.com/blog/.....tablet-v2/)

I don't know if there are specific checks to run on the database to help figuring out the problem cause.

Thanks again for your help.

This is most worrying.
Would you be able to look at the database tables directly? Look at those forum records to see if you can see anything adrift or missing? I really am not sure what to suggest exactly but something might stand out.
Also look at some topic and post records...?

Well, I don't know exactly where to look (which columns, which linked db identifiers ...).

Could it be a problem in the parent/child relations in the db ? is the children text column in wp_sfforums table used for displaying the last posts, could there db corrupted data in there ?

I just did a new test, adding a new "test" subforum in the Arnova 10 G2 forum that is causing problems.

http://www.arctablet.com/blog/.....ova-10-g2/

No change, the topic inside this subforum isn't listed in the last posts for the mother Arnova 10 G2 forum.

I can prepare you an SQL dump of specific or all SP tables.

I hope you can help me find a solution, I am open to any option.

Thank you.

A sql dump of the SP tables would be an excellent idea if you are willing. That would give me a chance to hopefully get to the bottom of it. If you can do that then please email it to support at simple-press dot com - and thanks

Dump sent, thank you.

Ultimately, if it helps, I am OK to recreate the subforums and move the topics with SQL queries.

OK - I can tell you why it is happening. It is because the parent forum has no topics. Create a topic for the parent and all the subforums then show the last post details.

So I have opened a bug report and will work out what is going on in the code to make this happen.

Thanks for the database. Makes it so much easier to track problems like this when you have decent data to work with.

I will keep you informed on progress...

Just added a topic in the parent forum, that fixed it, thanks a bunch !

I'll eventually remove this "placeholder" topic when the problem is fixed.

Thanks again for your help.
