we use:  Use custom meta description on main forum page only, use forum description on forum pages and use first post excerpt (120 chars) on topic pages

so the description comes from the forum and the topic posts...

sorry you are finding it hard...  just have to get the options set up...  have you read the popup help?  latest screenshot might help too...

not sure why... working find on multiple genesis/wp seo sites...  as asked earlier, did you can the head tags all the way down to the /problem-with-post-edit-buttonead tag?  wp doesnt put all the meta stuff together...

are you looking in the page source for you meta description? assume so since you looked there for the title...  I was pointing out that the head tags of your page may have many tens of items added to it... the title is usually at the top, but the meta description may be further down before the end head tag and not necessarily grouped with other meta tags...

Since your site is behind paywall, I cannot look for you... unless you offered some temp credentials to get through...
