Is it possible to have a button in the sidebar widget of your wordpress theme that allows the user to navigate to a simple-press registration page opposed to wordpress?

Like show a notification or "Not Logged In" or "Hello Guest" on the wordpress theme homepage, then after registration stats similar to the user area of the forum can show from the sidebar?

There s no SP registration page. Registration, login, logout are all within the WordPress realm. The answer is yes that you can have such items on your sidebar but these are not SP components.

I would suggest that perhaps it would be worth your while to look at some of the many registration plugins that are available for WP that will help with this and give a more customisable user experience.

I've used front-end registration plug-ins before, SP has it's own profile edit page which leaves users with two (WP and SP).
I was asking is their a way to make it one process or minimize it?

Ah well - you didn't mention the profile page before!

Much of the profile data that SP uses comes directly form the WP profile. It is not separate data. and most of our users do not like their users getting down to the WP profile in admin.

SP extends the Wp profile in two areas. Firstly there is some forum specific data. Other data that SP has created is stored in the usermeta table in the same way as WP profile data so is readily available. In fact, WP itself loads that extended data into it's user object.

You originally spoke of having a SP registration page but it seems there is more to the question so what exactly are you wanting to achieve?

I'd like for SP's edit profile page to be accessible with a button that is visible on the website's home page sidebar.

If the user isn't logged in it reads :REGISTER
If the user is logged in it reads: EDIT PROFILE

have you looked at our template tags plugin??  It does most, if not all what you want...

http://codex.simple-press.com/.....gs-plugin/

though I dont understand why you want to say register when they are not logged in... why not log in???

and if you want a single button to do both, you will have to code the button yourself though its not hard - just a few php lines...  and then put it in a text widget that accepts php...
