So is there a system/plugin that shows anyone where the newest posts are?

Sorry can you explain what you mean by 'shows anyone where the newest posts are?'

I'm a bit confused.. You can view new posts from the 'New / Recently Updated Topics' quick link in the forum header, you can use the admin bar plugin to display unread posts for admins (amongst other things), you can view new posts through the unread posts button with the other tool buttons in the forum group itself, and you can set up a new forum posts widget.
