When setting up a new user, am I able to include in the settings that they receive email notification every time something is posted on the various forums. I want this to be compulsory rather than an option that they control.

Firstly - if you do not have it already - you will need to install and activate our Subscriptions plugin. In the options for that plugin you can then set 'Auto subscribe members to all topics they post in'. Then when new users are  created (nit existing users) this will be their default. They can turn it off in their profile. This is a legal requirement in most countries.

We do NOT have an option to automatically subscribe users to ALL posts regardless although you can turn on the option to subscribe to whole forums but can not force this on users.

Actually- forcing sending of emails can become a problem. There are the legal considerations where in some territories users should have to opt in as opposed to opt out. And depending on the volume of emails and how busy things are there is also the issue of your hosting company being happy with too many emails flowing out.
