One of the strong points of Bad Behavior is it uses Project Honey Pot to look up each requestors IP thus blocking any access from an IP or otherwise flagged site. This is the link to register for a key: http://www.projecthoneypot.org....._login.php

I assume any hackers would be blocked as well. But I'm just a hobbyist, and learn a little here and a little there.

Thank you have installed this plugin. Let's hope it solves the problem of spam registrations.

Speaking of Backups. I use Backup Buddy. Another Great WP Plugin: http://pluginbuddy.com/backupbuddy

This plugin looks good but it's paid. Why would one want to pay $75 when the backup can be taken free of cost using plugins. This is what I use

Make sure it backs up the forum tables. Some don't - they just backup the base Wp tables.
And does that also allow for a full site backup like PluginBuddy does?

Backing up other db tables other than WP is an optional setting in Backup Buddy. I felt it was worth the cost, but somehow missed that it was a subscription when i payed, which has since expired, so no more updates for me. frown

But BB saved my Ass when eBay launched a DdoS on my critic site http://www.ebaymotorssucks.com last July. Turned out the FBI was investigating the massive eBay VPP Fraud that i had been reporting on my site for more than 2 years beforehand. When eBay got wind of that invest, they DdoS my site offline to prevent the FBI from seeing my vast collection of EBM scams that went back to 2004.

Luckily i had done a full BB Backup the day before, and was able to migrate my site data to another domain in less than an hour. Backup buddy sure saved my ass then. And I'm a true believer of frequent full backups. Including a full FTP download of all my site content, and frequent database exports.

Ya never know when disaster will strike! eBay FU! laugh

Okay, will check that and let you know. In the meantime ,Andy again if you see my post above, I tried to quote something else and the name of the plugin got quoted even though I used it with great caution after you had told me the last thing how to use it properly. I regularly participate on other forums which run on various forum software and it becomes very easy for a person to easy in the text editor what is getting quoted but it's very very confusing here on simple-press. I would really really(and I mean really) request you to please take care of this. 🙂

Sorry, my fault. I missed a few words in the post above. Currently when somebody clicks on the quote button , in the text editor it becomes very difficult to figure out what is in the quotes and what is outside is and that's why sometimes the wrong text gets quoted.

It'd be great if in the text editor, like phpbb/vbulletin we can have the quoted text marked with the text QUOTE within square brackets and then /QUOTE within square brackets(Can put the syntax because then the text editor converts this into an actual quote here :))

so that it is clear as to what to is being quoted. Currently, we do have a quote symbo(") in the text editor toolbar which gets highlighted when something is in quotes, but it's quite confusing to use because something it quotes the things whcih you do not want to quote and one has to change paragraphs to remove the quotes. Even after doing this, I end up quoting something wrong.

While quoting something, a user would like to focus on writing and reflecting on what he has quoted rather than be bothered about quoting/unquoting stuff which one has to do at the moment.

Hope that makes it clear.

only have had a couple folks have issue with that quote button...  I mean the cursor is prepositioned to the entry point...  if you move it, you just have to go back to the right spot...

if you want to use bbcode, ie [ quote]afdadsf[ /quote] (without the extra space), you can... its supported... just type away...  but the button is tinymce and html...

If it bothers you, I would do one of two things...  update the content.css file in tinymce plugin and add a border for blockquote so its clearly marked... or maybe better yet, just copy the blockquote css from your sp theme css into the editor css...

obviously, we cannot do the latter because tinymce is a plugin and does not know what the css is for the sp theme you are using...

make sense?  come on back if I missed something...

Actually , quoting is fairly easy when I have to quote something only once. The problem arises when somebody has to multi quote i.e quote parts of a post, then it gets messy.

The option to update content.css seems an easy one but how exactly do I do it. I checked the file but couldn't make much sense of it. Do I need to add something or edit something ?Would be great if you can give me the code because I ain't good at coding stuff. Probably that's the power of Open sourcing-One can run a website even when he doesn't know much of coding. laugh

Conrad asked if the CSS for this can be hived off safely and the answer is no - that is one of the problems. We have a ticket to deal with this in 5.1 so I would seriously wait for that if possible.

And the problem with the CSS really comes down to the fact that TinyMCE is third party code and as such means we can not apply our own id and class names to try and help makes things more obvious.

When we move it for 4.1 I will try and see if we can make any changes to help people. The main problem is that then we have to make updates every time we distribute a new version of tinyMCE. But I will see what we can do.
