I do quite a bit of my testing in a local environment, and with the serialized data, moving databases got to be a hassle. I found the site below and the tool he has works great. I used it to also move all my image files for the upgrade to V5 so I didn't have to leave the old folder in place. 🙂

Yes, I know I could do it directly but then I have to remember the code, this way it does it for me. Until recently I only used Notepad+ as my local environment matches the production site numerically, however a few themes do something else so I've had to start serializing it (whatever that means). I only know enough to be dangerous cool

understand!

but I can recommend a very good alternative to notepad+...  its issue with newlines has bitten many folks... give phpDesigner a try instead...

Nice I'll have to give it a try. I use Notepad++ for quickie things as it's so fast to open files, and it will open a host file directly laugh

For actual code css & html mostly; I only play in php wink I use WebBuilder, but I will give that a test run. Thanks!

love phpDesigner...  not free...  but LSE (language sensitive editor)... hooks into svn, ftp, git, and many more...
